I have this 1year old bluetick that I would to break it on bears. We started her on small game as a pup, up to barking at a coon. Now we have her in a hog pen. She took awhile to get started barking at it, but she is getting the idea. My problem is that when the hog breaks to run she is down behind it, then comes back and checks in with me. I like to get up there to encourge her to stay with the hog, but I think I need to back off.

I'm I on the right track or should I try something different?

Oh , she has been to a couple of dead bear, and got a mouth full of fur.

try throwing your pup in with some older dogs that know whats up.
