I was wanting to get a collar for my young dog and was favoring the Wildlife changeable battery collars. I thought I would ask around to see what everyone elses best experiences have been with these or other collars.I looked at the other poll on tracking collars and the winner was Johnson Collars. I wanted a little more detail though.Any input would be appreciated.

I've run those for a long time and still have them. They are strong and last well. Use them with the two 3.6v for the best range. The one thing I don't like is the batteries get a little expensive although they last good. I'm sure there are other collars out there that are at least equal but you won't go wrong with those.

I run those wildlife collars with the changable batteries..

Not sure that I'm overly happy with them I've had to send mine in for repairs quite a bit more than I would like to. they are five years old.. they worked great before the 5 year warranty expired.

So I'm on the fence before I was a 100% satisfied wildlife guy.. but this last year I think I've had to sent in 2-3 collars.. and I still have one collar that is weak, but I just hate the down time of getting collars repaired.

So when it's time to buy something I definately will be checking around to see what else is availible..

I know someone who "might" be selling one or two of 219 collars. to get different collars that match his tracking box...They should still be in warranty..

I've used klien collars for over ten years now with very little trouble. When I hunt Idaho,Oregon or Cali I put my collars on when I get there and leave them on and unplugged with no worries. They will go dead sometime but 16000 hrs is alot of hunting.

Gary from West Coast Telementary makes a great collar and he is great to work with if you have any problems. I've been running the West Coast collars for years and am very happy with them. He is located in Western Washington.

I've been using the Wildlife Magnum Convertible collars for 7 years now and I'm 100% satisfied with them. I like the ability to throw in another battery in the field if need be, rather than sending them in to have the batteries changed out.
As stated above, the batteries do cost a bit, but they also last a long time too!

I've only had a problem with 1 of the 8 collars I have. They took care of it NO questions asked!

I've also heard great things regarding the Marshall collars. They only take a regular AA battery. Not tried one of them yet though.

Yes, you are right, a lot of guys run the Johnson collars.
