Hey guys, I have a few questions. Over the past several years hunting hounds (coon & bear) I have accidently treed a few bobcats. This bear season my bubbies dog treed two. We really enjoyed it, so now were thinking about taking on this great task. Ok my experience is that they run alot of circles and tree, bail, tree, ext. Now at night time I've have had a hard time getting under the tree for them bailing out, seems like they want stay up. Not as bad during the day. Remember sometimes I had no clue thats what they were runnning. So is this normal. I can hunt day or night here, which is better. Plus I never really have pursude this critters. I see tracks alot but never really paid attention to what they were doing. What do they like. Thanks.

What you just described about bobcats is pretty much spot-on. It's illegal to run them at night here, but from what i've heard other guys on here say, they're harder to keep treed in the dark. I've walked quite a few tracks without the dogs just to see what they do and usually they'll circle back on themselves, turn around and follow their own tracks backwards, then circle again, then do it all over again for no apparent reason, just hunting i guess. They can be pretty frustrating and make you question your dogs, but if you start treeing them consistently, they're a lot of fun. Good Luck!

Thanks guys for the input. I've been so busy at work haven't been able to get on line for a few days. I haven't started hunting them yet. I have been out a couple of days when we had snow looking for areas they would be in. I'am still looking for a young dog or pup to start. Thanks. Hipshooter I will get with you.
