We started at 9:30 pm last nite 15 degrees dumped my Cotton dog with two younger males Blaze and Canyon. We had three coons running a top the scrup oak on a side hill on that drop. Drove down the road to the next drop, dumped cotton and two females Bourbon and Shadow. They cold trailed for a while and the mercury was diving, now I really know the meaning of freezing your A$$ off.
I decided to cut them off was able to catch up the two females and cotton showed himself for a few seconds cold trailing around then went deep. I sent my 2 buddy's and the females back to the truck and headed after him. After trailing him for over 20 minutes and tracking through knee deep snow he came up treed on a huge den tree in the sloughes. Usually I dont hunt unless its close to 30 degrees but I was aching to get out and so were the hounds. It was close to 1:00 am and under 10 degrees when I got to the tree. Notice the frost all over Cotton.
