These are not my photos but were emailed to me by a buddy. And I don't have a clue from where they came either......but damn, I always believed a big tom bobcat could and does kill small deer but as they say, "the proof of the pudding is in the eating".........and that bobcat has the puddin!

Those are sure some neat pictures Ike. I have seen full grown whitetail deer that I thought were killed by a bob. Not sure if my thinking was correct or not I soon found. Not long after my find I saw pictures from a game camera and soon after that I saw video that a hunter got of the actual event in progress. There was even an article in the Texas Sportsman with a picture of a mature buck that was killed by a bob. Those little bobs are quite the creature if you ask me. Thanks for shareing the pictures.

Thanks Ike! Bobs kill mule deer around here in SW Colorado and I've seen kills from them on whitetails in Michigan also.

It's a bobcat all right it is what some call the Rocky Mountain Lynx but just a sub species of bobcat.
A couple of years ago I had some friend from Michigan down here lion hunting with me. We had hunted several days on horseback and hand't found much for lion sign. I was about to change areas when I got a cell phone call from a friend of mine who worked out in the forest. He said I got fresh lion kill right up here on my lease are you close. Well I was about 3 miles away so we jumped the horses in the trailer and went over there. He was parked along the road and said the kill is about 100 yards past that locked gate. Well I said let's just walk upo there and look at it before we get the dogs out. We did and we found a nice fat 2 point mule deer cached in a pile of pine needles and debis right next to the road. The signs were clear in the skiff snow where it had been drug from the other side of the road. Well this guy was excited and he said is it a big lion? I looked around and said Perry there is not a lion track around here. Well what is it? I said look at this and right there was a perfect clean bobcat track and a good sized one at that. I don't beleive a bobcat could kill that buck and if he did I am sure he couldn't drag it from over there. Well we walked over and saw where the cat had stalked the bedded buch jumped him in under a low hanging cedar and the buck had never made it to it's feet. He still was in dis-beleif but I said I will show get you camera. So he got his video camera and Dan Phil and I got out two of my old cat dogs and led them over there. Well they were just standing on their heads wnated to go, so I cut them loose. 20 minutes later we were standing on a rocky ledge looking down at Kate and Blue treeing up a big ponderosa, and right up near the top sat a big old pot bellied tom bobcat. Well I lent Phil my Woodsman and he knocked him out dead with one good shot, and we had it all on video. He was a beautiful prime tom of a shade over 30 pounds. Perry still had a hard time beleiving it but my friends from Michigan said they see bobs kill white tail a lot when they yard up in the alders swamps in the winter. I found another deer killed by a bobcat last season but it was a small one about the size of the one Dennis sent the photo of.

Cool pics. I'm pretty sure it's a bob too, just one that fat and sassy. A lynx from what I know would be lot taller with longer/bigger legs.

A little scary that some people in western states, especially cat hunters, thought that was a lynx
