That is a dandy cat, but I'm not so sure about their record book claims. I know of a couple guys that have gotten 50lb cats in WI. Not sure if they were on a "certified" scale though. Hell, I didn't even know that it was even recorded for any purpose in WI.
I know of numerous cats taken in MN, bigger than 38lbs.
I've only seen one cat track in my life that I figured had a chance at 50, and big surprise it got away to never been seen again. Cat weights are highly subjective in my opionion since a couple cottaintails can swing it 5+ lbs. Any cat over 30 in my book is pretty darn nice.

Very big cat, had a friend snare one two years ago that weighed 52 pounds, he was weighed at Sunrudes, who is a fur buyer up here. Also the cat had been dead for two weeks in a freezer then thawed before being weighed. I had no idea there was a record book for bobcat

. Guess next year I'll have to work on breaking the Minnesota record. Had a client kill one this year that weighed 47 pounds on certified scales.

That is a big cat but the largest one recorded that I have read about was trapped in Maine and is recorded at UMO and Unity college. It tipped the scales at 72 pounds. Here is a link that has some of the info but there is more.

That thing's a PIG!
I thought I read somewhere years ago, that Teddy Rosevelt held the weight record on bobcat? Taken the same trip as that Tom Lion of his that held the record in Colorado? for so long. Not sure though, I'll do some digging. Wonder why they just don't do skull size?

This site claims 11 sub-species, and what they call the record is not.

Interesting post since I'm pretty sure I was after that cat this winter, haha!
Had a huge track around the Pelican Lake country, had the track twice, once in the wrong chunk and the other time I wasn't out with my gang, just heard they found it again..... Did a lot of looking but couldn't find it again.....
Nice link and cool cat, hopefully he spread his genes

....

I just heard this morning that this cat was taken near the Menominee Reservation. They thought maybe it was living on the rez and crossed out when they found it.The guy that
shot it didn't have the hounds but it is a active game warden that did have the hounds.
