That was pretty good ! Wish it had sound of dog barking too.What I wouldnt have given to know what the dogs were looking at over the years !!!

I think that "thriller" music is only on the trailer. They released a lynxhunting DVD in dec -08, with dogcam fotage and you could hear barking, panting, hissing and brush rubbing agains the microphone on that film. Pretty cool.

Yes, they've got two for sale now. One released -08, from the -07 season hunting and one released a couple of days ago from the -08 seasons hunts.

My wifes family is from over there in Sweden. I asked them about bear hunting when they were here but they were not much help. I dont think they thought much about hunting so they really didnt give me much to go on. What type of hounds do you guys run over there? Great video......

Weeeell....., These are my thoughts and opinions. Anyone may feel free to disagree, but I probably wont change my way of seeing things anyway...

From way back we used spitzdogs here. They were the only dogs we had. There were slight differences in breeds. Some were more herding dogs to the other side of the scale, pure hunting dogs. These dogs were and are, are no trackers. They hunt with their noses high, trying to catch direct scent from the closest animals. In my opinion these dogs should not start a track older than a couple of hours, though some strains of breeds now have been bred for starting older tracks, then hunted in a leash for moose. Originally the spitzdog breeds for hunting were combinationhunting dogs. They would hunt anything that came in their way, from peltz animals like marten and squirrels to big game like moose and brown bear, even forrest birds were hunted with them. As history unfolded the breeds became more and more spezialised. Now most of them are pure moosedogs, exept some few strains of Laikas that will work as combination dogs. The bearpopulations declined to almost extinction during the 19th century and since the huntingstyles of a moosedog and a beardog are completly different, it made the bearhunting strains redundant. So now bearhunting spitzdogs, and then I'm talking about dogs that will go out into the woods and prioritize hunting bear, not barking at a bear if they by chance meet it, are more or less only freaks of nature. I know there are some strains of Karelik beardogs and Great swedish elkhound(wrong name from the translators, not my foult), that produce some dogs that will hunt bear, but not in any percentage like your big game lines of any breed. (If you like to see pics of these dogs look under the "Majestic section" and "Pac's in Norway". There are two spitzdogs there. My female Great swedish elkhound(grey in coloure) and a friend of mines male West siberian laika(white and grey/brown))
Hounds came to Scandinavia in late 19th, early 20th century. They were more or less decendants from english foxhounds. They were mostly used for hare and some for fox. The problem with these hounds when predator hunting were, that they ran to chase instead of running to catch. Some strains got some German hoghound blood in them and they worked to some degree, but that blood is watered down thinner than a virgine drink now, so they are in my opinion useless for predators.
THEN, a few years ago some bright Swedes imported Plotts to Sweden. That revolutionised bear hunting here. Most of these were "Ursus" bred, but if my mind serves me right, I think "Cach" on this bord, exported some to the southern part of Sweden. They are as I understand it, used on hogs and bear.
