As Mike said: Arizona is limited, Most units are open Sept 1 to May 31. But there are some units that allow lion hunting in certain areas year round. Look in the Ariz Game and Fish Dept web site (azgfd.com). Most are areas with in certain units where they have transpanted Bighorn Sheep.

Thanks guys . anyone know how it would work for a canadian to come down and hunt any of these areas ? do you have to be a resident of the state to hunt in each state any info would be helpful , i will also try to find out some info off the fish and game sites .
We have a short season up here december to the end of febuary and its a quota system so once they kill the quota you cant evan just chase lions with your hounds . it would be nice to be able to chase lions longer i could care less about killing them .

In Arizona you can buy a tag and license at the nearest sporting goods or Walmart.

In Ut you can buy a harvest Objective permit, you need to buy it 7 days before you start hunting. The combination license for a non resident is $80, the Cougar harvest objective permit is $258 the Pursuit is $30. I think it is going up to $130 next year. You can look it all up at

Hope this helps

Unless I'm mistaken, I believe that every western state where lion w/hounds is legal offers over the counter liscenses?
Also, it is not like Canada in the way you are thinking. All states are fair game...heck you could hunt every one if you had the money and time.
Well now there's an idea...the super slam of lion...!!!
And unlike Canada, I would check into buying or burrowing a handgun if you are going to spend much time on foot.
Oh, and if you ever get to Colorado you can start here, then slip across the border and
look for one in Mike's country...

Ya the good old canadian gun laws ! bunch of bs but thats a whole other post as for packing a hand gun some fellows might still do that up hear while hunting lion

not sure how it works if a fellow crosses the boarder with a handgun i know you can do it i think you just have to follow canadas law till you cross boarder then you have to follow what ever state you are in for there laws . anyhow how long are the seasons for lion in colorado and new mexico ?

All of Utah's harvest objective units close down to pursuing from 8/15- 10/31 due to the large amount of big game hunting at that time. So technically we don't have year around pursuing. You can hunt em but not release you're dogs during this time.
