Furbearer season opened aug 1st. Caught my first bobcat of the season this eveing.
I could have titled this "internet bobcat" because I was sitting at my computer reading this site and had just gotten up to get my pizza out of the oven. Looked out the window and saw my dogs running across the orchard. So I grabbed my camera and ran to catch up to them. When I got the the fence they were excitedly barking at the gate to be let out.
My dogs quickly disapeared into the brush once they were out the gate and I heard them go up the hill a few hundred yards and stop barking but I could hear them running around trying to pick the trail up again. A few mins later I heard Jake barking treed back where they had entered the brush. So I don't know if it treed right away and they ran past it or it circled back and treed...

Lol yea better to be lucky than good... might be better to be lucky and good though
I did go out that morning and the dogs didn't find anything to run on a 5 mile loop. Been going out every morning for last few days and not getting much going but its still nice to just get out. Been realy dry here for being our rainy season.
This morning I was out and we found a somewhat fresh bobcat scat but the dogs could not get anything going from it. Then on the way back we crossed that area again and this time they started tracking from the scat. I guess something else could have crossed but I don't think so. Ground was too hard to take tracks so I could not see anything but my dogs cold trailed for around an hour and never did get it jumped. Strange that they got nothing when it was cooler and was able to move it as it warmed up. It was 65 when we left the house this morning and 82 when we got back 2 hours later...

Never have but I do live and hunt about five miles from the border. There is a big mountain (Miller peak) in between though and the straitest shot walking is more like 12 miles. Now if I was to hunt those canyons on the other side of Miller peak there would be a very good chance of ending up with dogs in mexico if one was not fast enough at calling the dogs off, at this time the border wall doesn't extend into the mtns so its a 5 strand barbed wire fence in that area. Some nice canyons over there too...

Tomjr. I live in Arizona also. I have not been to the huachcha mountains but have been to the Pinalenos Mountains which are a similar range near-bye. Do you got any bear near you and how much property do you have.
Yes i agree with you very much Arizona is not all desert. MOst of the state actually is mountains. Also there is 4 ski mountains and more then 10 cross country ski resorts in Arizona. Some parts of the state average 400 inches of snow a year.
