Just curious if anyone runs the purebreds down AZ or N.M. and how they do compared 2 the ones bred for that country.

I've used both and have to give a edge to area raised hounds although some of the best of these are purebred hounds themselves.

Speaking for myself. I do not know anyone that runs purebred hounds here in Arizona Except purebred curs. Most have mixed breed hounds. I know one guy that at one time was running labs and lab crosses with his hounds.

Warner Glenn runs purebred walkers in southern Az. They do quite well for him as I'm sure you come to expect. That being said Warner has been breeding these walkers for 53yrs now. He has bred the best to the best for all this time and that includes handling the heat and dry conditions. When you breed like he has for that long with very little outcrossing I believe he has developed his own strain or line of walker dogs. That is just my openion right or wrong I don't know.

Most people that got purebreds dont hunt them.... Nost the hounds are mix breeds but they are pretty good... I know a guy in N.M. that runs UKC Plotts and a guy in AZ too
