I'm writing an interview piece for a national dog magazine on Plott Hounds. If you are experienced working pure bred Plotts, have considerable knowledge of the breed's factual history, or have good hi-resolution pictures of Plotts on the hunt, please contact me ASAP - info @ waarheidkennels . com - (remove spaces), as I have been given a very short deadline from the editor.

Plottworld.com, just PM the guy with the most posts. He is the authority when it comes to Plotts! One word of advice, don't disagree on anything or your stay will be cut short.

Get hold of Steve Herd, he knows more about Plotts than anyone else that I know of. You can find him on Plott world or Smithdeal.
Good luck

Could someone here who does have access at least reprint my initial post on their Plott Board for me?

WAARHEID, I sent you a PM on this site. But most sites have a e-mail address verification they send out after you sign up. Plottworld is one of them. It may have been caught by your internet provider and was sent to your junk mail. But anyways, send that back and your on. There's many over there that would be more than happy to help you. You can probably write several articles just by reading some of the stuff in the history section. Hope this helps and Good Luck with the Article!!! No matter what Breed of dogs we have, we can all use some good PR.

If you want it from the horses mouth, then you need to talk to Bob Plott. I do not know if he is a member here, but you can find him here:
http://plottdogs.com/forum/pop_profile. ... lay&id=975
He is a decedent of the well known plott family

LOL
Dude, Bob Plott only wrote what he wanted others to read. He left the parts out that he didn't like. The book is about Plott's in his opinion and what he wanted to write.

you might ought to get a lil more info on bob before you make a statement like that and really studt your plott history and maybe some things were left out due to the plott families request i know bob very well and my plott history just bout as good! Some tuff may have been left out to save hard feelings among breeders! Facts mean more than comments and since i live less than ten minutes from plott valley and hunt with men who stayed the night with john plott and hunted with von and taylor crockett and gola! Plus i am a decendant of the reeces wrote about in the book so its my history too! Hard feelings from the past may hinder some writing! Not trying to be hateful or know it all just want the facts to be straight and only judge ppl on what you know!

thats the problem, because of where you live, and where Bob Plott lives, some of the influential breeders were looked down upon and not even mentioned in the book, because thay are not North Carolina good old boys and apparently don't have the same feeling of entitlement that you obviously do, just because you happen to live where things started. Pretty sure Von made some outcrosses at the prison. Far as Brandenburger, Drum might have done alot for breed recognition, but there are a select few that have strains that are Drum free and have worked very hard to avoid that "outcross" dog, but no metion or appreciation to their dedication in the book.
I have read the book and lost some respect for Bob after reading it for that reason alone. I have asked Bob about this and he will not offer a reason, let alone a response. As far as my own opinion of the man, which I have created simply on his book and his posts on forums, I believe that all he did was cash in on his family name. I don't feel that he would even own a plott hound today if they had not grown to have the recognition that they do. The man makes it pretty obvious that he doesn't even hunt hounds! Plott family history, sure, Plott hound history, and there are alot more qualified individuals to answer questions about this breed and not withhold important facts.

No offense Paw, but you and I just said the same thing. Bob left parts out of his book for his own reason. His book is wrote about the Plotts Bob wanted to write about not the history of Plotts.
Take Care.

LOL
DRUM, why would any one write about Drum? Wouldn't a dog have to be a pure Plott to make history?

Good discussion about the different influences that areas of the Nation has had on our Breed. This subject could go on for a long time. But here's a link to the magazine that this article is suppose to be in. I won't go any farther on this cause I'm VERY opinionated about these type of things. And that opinion isn't about Plott History either. I'm still learning about that. Just didn't want to see a war get started before you guys get a hint of the rest of the story about this. But please continue passing on all that knowledge and experience you guys have. If you can put all the different versions of the events that happened in the Breeds history together you can usually come up with something pretty close to the truth in the end.
