What's your favorite hunting pack for anything from varmints to bear or elk and why?

definately my nimrod pack! it flat out does it all from a small day pack to a back country pack. jmo, whats yours?

I've never even heard of a Nimrod Pack, but I looked up the site and it looks like they have some pretty adaptable, flexible systems. Most of the guys I know out here use Badlands, Blacks Creek, etc... I'm looking to spend some money on a new one and wanted to get some input from guys who really NEED a good pack, people who've walked some miles with one. I might have to look into the Nimrods a little closer...if I could just get past the name "What kind of pack do you use?" Answer: "A Nimrod..."

i have used the nimrod pack for about the last 8 yrs. all the other packs i was using were just not up to snuff for me. that being said i have never used a badlands pack or an eberlee stock but my nimrod has everything i need. I have the base pinicle system with a bunch of attachments. Everythything is colorcoded so you know where everything hooks together. i like to hunt the wilderness areas and i have a 100ltr camelback and even with that on i can still put my meat bag on that will hold alot of meat if boned out. I just love the thing!!!

Have a kifaru G2 Longhunter, Eberlestock J104, Browning day pack, 2 different Vaude intenal frames (60 & 70L) and lookin at that new Sitka Gear Flash 20 as a new day pack...

They each have their day/place.

Go to ebay and look up sds assault pack. They are made to military standards by a military contractor for the military. I have the patrol model and the assault model and the frame pack. the Patrol is the smallest and they get bigger as you go. They are molle equiped so there are many spots on the pack where there are a variety of different accessory pouches that you can add to the pack if necessary. From water bottle attachments to accesory bags that can almost double the size of your pack if necessary. Look on ebay like I said and youll pay a fraction of what a new one costs, as they are usually surplus ex military issue. If you go to sds (specialty defence systems) online you will pay over 200 bucks. you can get a surplus one for less thatn 60 bucks., usually they come with a few extra attachments. I highly reccomend these as ive spent a lot of money on cabelas stuff and it isnt worth the money and the durability isnt even close.

I have an Eberlestock X2 that I bought in Aug 2008. It has been through two deer seasons, all last winter lion hunting, and I packed about 60lbs of elk meat off of a mountain in September of this year. I have not found a bad thing to say about the pack, and I have not found a loose stich on it yet. The antenna for my tracking system fits well in the spotting scope pocket on one side, and the hydration pockets work well, although I take them out in the winter time and put two Nalgene Bottles in the main compartment and use the wings for putting other gear in

definitely the NIMROD without a doubt, if you are carrying a rifle on your back. No other pack out there has a weapon carrying system that is better.

Nimrod is proudly made in the USA (Washington) by actual people who use em. Give em a try Mr. pacojack, you'll give your badlands to your kids for a toy sack!

Like bigboar I love my milsurp tactical vest. It has everything organized in cases for any kind of hunting along with a mess kit, spot, camera, lights knife etc. etc. and enough food for one over nighter. If I need more the back area is unused so I can attach a larger cargo pouch or throw on a day pack. I do not go anywhere without it and it's always ready to go.

I had one and didn't like it. Badlands are much better for what I do anyway.
