Seems we have a lot of taxidermists and those that confer with them a good deal on the board. I was wondering what the going rate for a life sized lion mount is in your area? Lets just say and average tom mount doesn't have to be toad class just a good representitive of the species. Also if you have the same info for bobcats let's share that.

For a mere $3-3,500 here, you can have a life size cougar that looks like I did it
I haven't seen one I like on the Island here.

This cat was done for $1500.00. The cat was about 145 lbs. and roughly 7 and a half feet. I get bobcats life sized for $450.00. I don't have any because a bob that is worth mounting is probley a five or six hundred dollar cat. and that is a lot of dog food.

Just got a lifesize cat back from the taxidermist and it was 2500.00 Good job too.

High Desert, that is not a bad mount especially for the money you spent. One major difference that some people may not be aware of is size. The form your cat is on is 51" long with 33" girth. I consistantly put cats that are in the mid 140" on a 54" to 55" inch forms with 36"37" girth, it may not seem like much, but it makes a huge diference in the outcome of the mount.

Yaak Attack, He realy looks narrow between his shoulder and chest in front of his legs. I am still super happy. I want to do a life size bear soon. The next light chocolate I get that is 20" skull and 400 lbs I think I will have done.probley laying on a ponderosa log or something not real sure yet. Thanks for the info on the form stuff. James

I was quoted up to 5000 from different guys, before deciding on a taxi that did it for 3500, who has actually hunted cats himself. It made a big difference in life like quality. A number of my hunters have since sent their cats to the same guy.

Around here there are planty of taxi's from a few hundred to 1,500. But.... you get what you pay for most of the time. I spent around 4,000 on my mount. If i could do it all over again i would send it to a guy named Phillip Soucy. He does a great job and has the resume to back it up.

Poser you are right on. you get what you pay for. sure you can get a cheap mount and some guys just dont care what there cat looks like as long as it still has most of its hair and a long tail.if you are going to keep a mount the rest of your life whats a little extra money to get a quality mount. i wish people would look more at quality and not be stuck just on the price.also agree that you probally wont find a nicer cat mount than the ones that Phil Soucy does.

My lion was $3000 but worth every penny. BIGCAT TAXIDERMY in craig colorado did it. Leeland does awesome work if you ever need some done.

Its intresting to hear of the different prices of Mountain lion mounts. I'm a Taxidermist and a houndsmen in MT and hunt as much as possible, i'm also specialize in mounting lions, i only take in a 5-6 every year because i customize every piece. I charge $2500 for the cat + habitat.

Its funny to hear some people charging 5,000 or more for a cat mount, when i know Mike Boise the owner or animal artistry in reno who is the biggest taxidermist in the states and he doesnt even charge that amount. also i know big taxi's who charge 1800 and it seems they turn out like crap. most people only get one set up in a lifetime so it needs to be done right the first time. Cats are the toughest cridder to mount when it comes to north american big game. So you want to make sure the taxi you consider knows the anatomy of a big tom that you worked your but off to harvest.
