I caught a lion with a small transmitter/ antenna in his ear. It was on the 151 freq. Wow, could come in handy!

I don't use it, but I hunted with a couple guys that did.. They did alright with it didn't really see much difference.. they Found dogs with them..
I don't think it matters that much, I would think you should get a little more range from the higher frequency, and it's a little longer antanea which can be a hassle. but if you have a good deal on a 150 setup... it might be worth it??
I'm Pretty sure WDFW uses 150-151 also.. or at least the tracking collar they had in the Sportsman show demonstration a year or two ago was an old 150 collar.

On the west coast, we get alot of bleed over from coast guard and park rangers on 151, Also CAlfire/CDF/USFS uses alot of 151 freq.
When its not being keyed over by other agencies it works great. I think the range may even be a little better in the rough country.
I use 216-219. now but, my friend still has the 151.

i use 150-151- been gradually switching over to 217 just because smaller antenna is handier --
it gets over mountains better
i do get a lot of interference sometimes-
theres radio tower on mt near me--- if im close to that - in 5 minutes maybe able to beep for 1 min without interference--thats worst case --
i have seen 217 unusable near some powerlines tooo
just buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz --lately im using a combination of both--
lol not thru choice but sent 7 151 collars in for repair and they didnt get fixed or returned - i was scammed

I've hunted around people using 151 and 155 frequency, they seemed to have excellent range and work good, the bigger antennae was a real hassle though.
