Just curious how far everyone travels from home to bear hunt. I drive 280 miles, about 4 and a half hours ervery Friday night, hunt all day Saturday and half the day on Sunday and then drive 280 miles back home. We don't have any bears in S.E. Wisconsin where I live so I have to trek north every weekend. I average about 800-900 miles per weekend when you add the miles I put on actually hunting! Multiply that by 9 weekends of training season and 5 weeks of kill season, its just so much fun

I dont need to if I am too lazy to drive. Can pop my dogs a couple miles from my backyard and will find one. IF i want to go somewhere else THere is plenty of other places to go from 8 hrs to the Mountains near Tucson az to 3 hrs to places around FLagstaff az.

I see bears frequently within a mile of the house but cant hunt em because of private land. I drive 15 miles.

For bears we drive anywhere from 15 miles to 180 miles depending on where we want to go. For lions I can pretty much go out the back door.

Right from the kennel. Just open the doors.
Can hunt around me in any direction. Along with everyone else. Only thing is, they all drive an hour. I just wake up and walk outside.

to bear hunt in good bear populations, i only have to drive about a half hour, i live in farm country and there isnt alot where i am, although i took my trashy little plott pup coon huntin this fall and she treed about 130 lb boar on the edge of the corn, but i doubt il see that again for a long time, i can go 2 weeks before finding even a track or scat from bear down here.
