We have some big bears comeing to the bait and corn but can't get the dogs to stay on them or take a two hr track. yestday seen one come out of the corn. dogs were on it but when it went back in they would not stay on it when it stoped running. what i need is some one with some good dogs to run with so my pups can see what a bear tast like.
If some one would like to hunt with me! come on up. there are no bear hunters here to run with that i know.

I have had this problem. Your dogs aren't confident enough or are scared of it. My dog's would catch a cow, horse and even a hog but, when a bear would stop and bluff them they would leave. It takes alot of time and aggrivation but, if they have it in them they will start sticking with a bear and even catching them. I watched mine jerk a 150# bear off a tree the other day when 4-5 months ago they would have tucked tail and ran back to me once it started down the tree. There are a whole lot better bear hunters on here than me but, in my opinion I would wade in with the dogs and help them figure it out. Good luck.

I agree on wading in there! I would offer for our crew to come help but we just got put out of commison til oct yesterday! Suffered a major cut down yesterday! They'll pick it up if they got it in them. just gotta keep it up! Don't give up!

My advice is to get a buddy who wants to use his bear tag and you two go walk into those dogs and kill that bear on the ground. Those young dogs need you to do that for them.

Thanks guys. I'll never stop runing hounds. we just need to keep trying, and we have lots of tags and big bears around and lots of sows with 2 to 3 cubs. I see whats coming in to the baits all sumer with tailcames and what come over from Que to feed in the corn.

Man, it is a darn shame Hawthorne, two years ago my truck would have had the petal to the metal to hunt with you. We have hunted Ontario 4 times and loved every trip. No other hunters, over the counter tags and a load of bears. A nice change from waiting 10 years to get a tag in Wisconsin! Good luck.

Do you have a outfitters liscense. I am pretty sure a non resident has to hunt under a guides outfitting liscense in Ont. we go up every year & hunt. Those big bear sound like fun to me. PM me & lets talk about it.

Cajun : All the Canadian Provinces I have hunted in Do require you to engage the services of an outfitter. They defineately have some strange rules and regulations up there for non-residents

I'm going to ask my buddy thats an outfiter and see what it take to get one or we could just be run coon or coyot lol! ill let you know!

I got one today!! At 9:30 seen one cross the trail in front of the truck i only had one pup in the box. He ran it for 10mins then he stoped at the next trail .so i went and found the other hounds at the corn lot. the time i got back it was 10:30 put them on wair i seen it cross the trail and boy they liked that. we could heer them most of the time i think the bear was just staying in front of them. so at 1 i seen the bear comming to the trail so i thought i would slow her down with the 270.WSM well it did. bear didn't go far and the dogs coght her so i ran in and finished the job. it has bin a long september 4 days a week running my dogs on bears that won't tree. i hope this kill will make them whan a nother

thats right man a dog is only as good as the man huntin him. you keep diggin and puttin hair in there mouths and them pups will make dogs some day.

well Matt we had a good hunt today and you should be pretty happy with them 2 pups, its kinda cool to see what a young dog will do with some good dogs. Got you penciled in for a pup out of angelxpeanut. i hope to get back there and run with you guys again before season ends.

Good day today 2 bears treed ! Ray and Jake came up to run with us. some dog got a nice sow treed and one of the plot pups i have and an older blue dog treed on there own all so a nice sow we could not get the big bore goin again!! got to love good bear dogs lol.
