went out two nights ago and my bo dog had one caught after 15 minutes of freecasting on a creek bottom. he had him treed on a small juniper and was able to get up close and personal with the coon. i had misty who thinks she's too good for coons and my young walker scooby at the bottom not doing much at all. right when i turned my camera on to get some video that stinking coon screamed BONZAI!!!!!! and jumped the tree. the outcome was obvious and i noticed the coon wasn't even big. have you guys ever had a coon do that. scream to high heaven and jump into a pack of hounds? could he have been rabid?

mostly they just think about it but I had one jump down into the dogs. It didnt last long after that. the others either sit there and look at you or they crawl down the tree like they are going to jump but decide against it.

only ben coon hunten 5 years and never seen it my self....ive had them walk down with one or two bullets in his rear...

we had one do the same thing but it was a big bore wooped my 10 month old pup and went back up the tree that was about a month ago now she kills everyone she sees

We turned a caged coon loose for our dogs when they were pups. It ran into the woods and we turned them loose to follow. The pups were half way across the field when that coon came back out of the woods and met them and the fight was on. I have pics of it posted on coondawgs.com photo message forum. Just look for my name, its the same, and its titled "my pups seeing their first coon".
