Re: Nance bred dogs in general
I want to start this thread again. I still have a direct daughter of Sampson. Anyone else still have any living Sampson offspring? Mine is probably too old to breed but she'll still catch the hell out of a lion! All her offspring are proven lion hounds as well. I am curious if anyone still has any s...

Re: TOM LIONS NOT SCRAPING,WHAT'S UP?
David, i dont believe the housecat has done you disservice when it comes to toilet behavior. Most of our observations of house cats are happening in the litterbox. When it comes to big cats i still believe they bury their dung using their front feet just as a housecat does in the litterbox. I have a...

Re: TOM LIONS NOT SCRAPING,WHAT'S UP?
David there are also videos of bobcats scraping with their hind feet on that site. It seems like no matter what goes by a lion marker it wants to mark it also and that includes my hounds. I watch them piss on them frequently as well as we trail past them.

Re: TOM LIONS NOT SCRAPING,WHAT'S UP?
I learned that lions scream on accident as well. I saw it firsthand while i was bedded down in a firecamp. I was woke up by a lion screaming. She was sitting on her ass like a dog and really givin it hell for about three minutes. About five minutes later two sub adult kittens stroll up and all three...

Thank you FITZH20. I feel these videos and many others posted on that site are a tremendous breakthrough in understanding lions and their behavior.

Re: TOM LIONS NOT SCRAPING,WHAT'S UP?
I recently stumbled upon some media that can put some questions to rest that have been lingering for a lifetime and possibly more. If one of you smart fellas would be so kind to go to youtube and put a link on to this forum for everyone to see. In the search section of youtube search the phrase coug...

Re: TOM LIONS NOT SCRAPING,WHAT'S UP?
This is just my very non professional opinion. I have always been under the impression that only dominant tom lions will leave markers. I have never trailed a young tom that left any and I believe they are traveling under the radar as to not alert a more dominant tom. I believe when a tom locates a ...

Re: Hunting the border in AZ ?
I hunt the border area a lot. Last August I hit an ATV loaded with dope. DopeRoadJuly30].jpg DopeOpen.jpg . The ATV had 400 pounds strapped to it. It looked like a brick wall coming down the trail. My eyes looked like this - . If I found a four wheeler with 400 pounds of weed my eyes would ...

Re: Lots of Mules for Sale
A good rule of thumb while packing any equine is 1/3 of the animals body weight. However, there really isn't a limit to how much a mule can carry. If their legs don't buckle then they can carry it. I've packed an entire elk(four quarters, backstraps and tenderloins, neck, brisket, and flank) plus the ...

Re: NM year round lion season
britchey i really don't think the units will close any quicker. I don't think there are enough good dirt dogs around to do that. I know a couple of guys with good dirt dogs and they all had access to private land which was always year round. Plus the depredation and roadkill no longer count against ...

Re: will trade 2 bluetick pups for finished lion/bear dog
you will be best off selling the two pups and putting that money towards a good finished hound. You will not even come close to getting a good dog for the price of two pups so do a little saving and be patient. Don't just believe the first guy who says he has a finished dog cause like old man said m...
