Raffle for fellow houndsmen in need

Postby Buddyw » Fri Jan 29, 2010 11:25 pm

Folks, I've been offered by a member on this board to sponsor and donate the cost for a garmin Astro RAFFLE (or comparable Prize) for Pacojack.

I want to hear what you guys think?

It's a way to make his money go farther, and encourage more poeple to donate 5,10, 50 bucks or what ever it is they want..

Should we run it 100 $10 tickets like I've done in the past, or should we just have it say.. 5 dollars per ticket and No limit on tickets since all the Money (minus credit card fee's) will go to Devin.

If we run it with more than 100 tickets we'll have to do an actual Drawing using Raffle tickets in a bucket.. So I would need some Honorable Witness's to make sure I don't pull my own ticket.. Since This is a raffle that "I" can participate in also!!

Let me hear what you guys want to do..

Bud, I voted for the $5 tickets. Reason is hopefully with all the members there will be a larger amount of money raised.

Thanks guys, I'm going to have to figure out how to keep all the Logistics in place. and insure that everyone gets a ticket #.

I wish I had a system that automatically spit out Raffle numbers.. I do have an idea... but I'll have to play around with it for a minute.. to see if I can make it work so that people would have their Ticket numbers on their reciepts.

Please Note: If this is Done over my website using my Credit card fee's (easy) , It would be 95% Payout, the 5% basically covers my Credit Card Fee's. I think it's .25 per transaction, and 2-3.5% depending on the type of Card that is used. to give an estimate, it's 8% Fee's for a single 5 Dollar transaction, or about 2-3% for a $100 dollar transaction. So I'm shooting right down the middle. at a Straight 5% to make it easy.

For folks asking what happened, here is a link.

Buddy, Don't make it so hard on yourself. Just drop a name into the hat for every ticket bought. Then pull a name out when it's done. No need for numbers or anything then. You buy 2 tickets your name goes in twice. Real simple!!

Yea, I agree with Steve. No need to make it too hard. How soon can we buy tickets.

Buddy,

I like the ideas of $5 no limit or maybe $10 then a 3 for $20 type of deal.

I think your lotter drawing worked slick and is much easier and more out in the open than drawing from a hat. It's a little different deal to have a drawing across multiple states. With the lottery deal everyone knows their number ahead of time, it is as random as it gets and can check it for themselves. If you had more tickets sold you could just go with the 3 number draw. If the number drawn is too high, it goes to the next week or day. With $5 tickets you could get closer to the 1000 much quicker. Eventually somebody is going to win.

Just some thoughts.

I have it almost them ready, Just need to Finalize a drawing date. and Figure out what way to run the drawing,

Right now I have it so that People could pick their own numbers. ie, I have 200 Tickets as separate items, It will be a little more difficult to buy say 5 or 10 tickets, because you would need to pick and add each one to the cart... However, It would be easier for me because I wouldn't have to sort through and Figure out. OK notle Got 5 tickets, Steve got 10, and keeping it as a list. The less my hands are in the mix.. I promise the less errors that will happen!

What do you guys think? Run it for a month???

Nolte, I agree, I really won't do it unless I can make it in the open some How.

I should have this up and running by Friday evening. If not sooner.

Buddy,

I like the format. I'd say run it for a month.

One way to do it for 200 would be to use the pick 3 and have the last two digits be the actual number. For the first digit have even numbers be 0 and if it's an odd number be 1. So say a pick 3 number of say 788, would match up to ticket #188. Done deal and the winner is me :D .

Buddy I just did one. Did the name in the hat thing. To keep it out in the open I video taped the drawing of the winner. Although you still had to trust I put your name in the hat

currently,

I have it almost ready to go and it go live very soon.

I've got 200 Tickets that are 5 dollars each. Numbered 1-200 You select what number you want from the availible options.

Then I've got tickets 200-400 bundled in 5 for Twenty ticket bundles.

I will add more tickets above 400 as needed depending on demand

Winning ticket Drawing will start Monday March 8th Using Ohio Quick Pick three results, (evening drawing) If the Drawing Results don't match, we move to Tuesday March 9th (evening Drawing), the 10th,11th.. Etc

Basically If There the numbers drawn on the 8th don't match a ticket sold, we will look at the evening results everyday for the Winning number to match a valid Ticket until this occurs.

Ohio, quick pick three has drawings everyday 7 days a week If we only sell 5 tickets if could take a while!! ;)

Ticket numbers are all precidented with 0's .. For Example, Ticket 1 is actually 001, Ticket 24 is 024.

Ok this is up and running.

I do plan to buy some tickets myself,(since the money goes to devin and not Me!, I feel that it is allright for me to buy tickets in this)

I will Post all my info and ticket numbers ahead of the raffle, about how many tickets I will purchase

At the end I will get a Full billing report as well as to how many tickets were sold and the Amount of the check given to Devin on Behalf of All of us.

I expect it will be around 95% of Profits to go toward Devin because of the Credit card Fee's. Range between 3-8% depending on the size of transaction.

Buddy
