It looks a lot like a stephens. One of the best cur dogs I've ever been around looked a lot like that one. Do your dogs run real open on a track or are they pretty quiet? The one I had that looked like your pup was the only one out of the litter that didn't make much noise. When he opened the race was pretty much over

All my dog are pretty quiet on track even on bear, I've had them tree a few bear with out barking on track.I like running bobcats and grey fox and it doesn't take this line of dog to long to learn that every time they open they are telling the game right where they are at.

David, That's what I was told all so . And they called them black diamond curs because that is what it was black with the white diamond on their chest. Not sure we will ever know what made up old Jug. Did you ever keep up with your pups careers ?

Thanks for the info. If you ever have any of these available I would be interested in one.

I really like your dogs. Always have. I bred mother to son 1 time. Had a very nice litter. My pick of the litter got killed though as usual. I had one extremely crazy gyp. She was a nut job from the day she started to walk pretty much. She was extremely shy and pretty much hated people. Impossible to catch once she got a lil older. No amount of work was ever gonna change her. Ive seen coyote pups better actin for sure. Anyhow, all the other pups were excellent acting in that litter. Only done it once though.

Nope I couldn't really see anything more special than any other breeding. Ive never seen a special breeding to be honest and overtime between dogs and other critters Ive seen a lot. Ive seen awesome/special individuals but they were just wherever they came from ya know. Id say out of all the good animals Ive owned I bred a very small percentage of them. Ya just happen upon the special ones whether ya breed them or not.

This next statement is not always true, but it is true often enough to say that:

many long time houndsmen who know exactly what they want will never find out what a good cur can do.[/quote]
David, I've got one of them as a buddy that can't say enough about these dogs and has walked into more then a few of their trees just to see with his own eyes. But what would people say if he owned one of these mixed up Curs.
