Is there a different pattern for tracking a fox vs tracking a female lion? If you’re dry ground on a game trail with a lot of different tracks that goes to rocks without tracks how do you decide what the dogs are following?
I’ve read some info on the fox forum and a little here. Unless I’m missing something with male lions leave bread crumbs with scrapes and easier to decipher what they’re tracking.

Re: Tracking lions vs foxes
If you absolutely have no tracks on the ground the only way you're going to be able to tell what they're chasing is with a good broke dog. With saying that if your trail leads up through the boulders there's a good chance it could be a fox. If it leaves the game trail goes over to the rock pile and then comes back to the game trail good percentage of the time that will be a lion or bobcat
