tool box/dogbox
tool box/dogbox
I was thinking about cutting the bottom out of my toolbox and converting it into a dog box. I have a ford ranger I was wondering if anyone had a box like this..is it enough room for at least two dogs and do you like it. any input is good. I just want to have it for the summer months runnin my coondogs to keep them in shape without having to take the big box in and out of my truck all the time since I do construction it is nice to have the truck bed open. also if anyone has any pics of toolboxes that they have converted that would be helpful. I have an idea of what I want but it would be nice to see if anyone else has done this. Thanks.

Re: tool box/dogbox
Think how hot that box would be in the summer, Plus not much room. I'd go with a side in.

As long as you put some holes in it for air there shouldn't be a problem. Most of those dog boxes they make now are make out of the same thing as the toolboxes. Just get the ventilation to them. But you probably already have it figured out. If you google toolbox/dogbox there are some neat pictures that might give you an idea.
Re: tool box/dogbox
The small truck combo boxes that I've seen are really only big enough for 2 small / med. dogs and only 1 compartment. This set up does work well...Storage for the stinky stuff and tools, and you always have a dog box in.
