A message from Dan Cockayne....
Lion Committee News -24-2012

5 UHA board members attended another community meeting in Richfield last night. (4-23-12) As with the rest of the meetings we have attended we find that the houndsmen in the central part of the state are facing the same crisis with their lion population. One concern also raised was the closure of roads by the US Forest Service during the winter, limiting access to hunt during the winter. We agree that this is a problem not only on the Monroe but on many mountains statewide. I personally checked Hobble Creek Canyon today and three weeks into the Bear hunt the gates are still closed just above the first campground. Everyone needs to call the Forest Service office in your area and voice your concerns about being locked out of your National Forest. Thanks to all those who volunteered to help in the Richfield area, and for committing to not take a female. Special thanks to Jeff Brewer and JJ Brewer for arranging for the building to meet in. Also to Jason Adamson for your passion and dedication, it’s easy to get excited about some of these issues but much harder to put your head down and go to work to help bring about the changes that are needed. Jason has done this from the very beginning and continues to do so. Hats off to you.
The truck stickers are here, let me know if you want some and we will make arrangements to get them to you.
Next Meeting Tremonton, 4-25-12
