Hound is silent on track?

Postby CoonBaumer » Fri Nov 01, 2013 10:06 pm

I was hunting with my hound for the third time and he was on a coon track because when I got to the tree I saw that he had treed a coon. Well, when he was on the track he was silent and not even barking. He is just SILENT and just tracks and trees the coon? Do you think this is a bad thing that he is doing this? Remember this is his third time ever hunting, so it's not like he has been treeing coons all his life. I just started him last year, but he was completely unaware what he was supposed to track. Now he is starting to click.

Well, I went hunting with him last night and he finally started to bark while tracking. So that made me happy. Then, he treed for like 20 minutes. This is his 4th time ever going hunting.
