Looking for dogbox ideas so I can fit my sled in too

Postby Emqhmq » Sun Mar 10, 2019 10:33 pm

I have a 2001 tundra. I'm trying to figure out the dimensions I need for a dog box so I can haul my 2004 artic cat 151 in the back. I'm planning on building a reciever brace that holds the sled past the tailgate. Thanks for any help.

How many dogs are you hauling?

When I saw your post it reminded me of boxes that sat on the pickup like a tool box and the ski's front of the hood would go under the box.
With (6) dogs you would have to measure where the bottom of the box would have to be height wise in relation to your hood to get the capacity needed.
Another consideration is that vision out the back window will be lost, but better than dealing with a trailer in my mind.
Hope this make sense, if not let me know.

There’s a guy from Montana that is on americaleopardbreed.com that has the nicest dog box set up to haul a sled that you will ever see. If you go to the page look in the pictures he’s the guy that puts up all the lion pictures.

The two mentions above are great the only other option i can think of is to do side boxes on the box of the truck problem is you would have to lift the dogs in and out to avoid scratching the truck. you could turn the doors in but would have to remove the sled to get the dogs out hope this may help to give some ideas on what you may want

That’s not my set up but I run a sled deck in the winter with a dog box on top on one side of it and my sled on the other side. I like the way that one in the pic is better tho with the dogs under the deck. I only set mine up the way I did because I got my deck used for cheaper than I could off thought of making it and the way the guy made the ramps under it would be to much work to change it now.
