Nothing more fun than hunting Hare with a couple of good Beagles after a couple of inches of fresh snow.

Re: dog has no interest in drags
Just about every broke dog I ever owned did not care to run drags made from bottled scents. Bottle scent and the real thing are different and a good dog knows it. When it comes to coon I always use the real thing, get a fresh killed coon and use it for your drag to get your young dog started. Road ...

It is all about gaining confidence in themselves and believing in their abilities.

Re: 22 questions
For Coons I use a Remington Nylon 66 that is clip fed, very light and very durable and accurate enough to lay one between a coon's eyes in the top of a tall tree. While the 66 is no longer being made good used ones can still be found. The Remington 597 would be a another good choice, it is chambered ...

Re: recessive brown gene in blueticks
Take a look at this guy I got out of one of my litters a few years back, I call him the California Kid, he is registered Engish and is of Hardtime, Junior, and Boyd's Little Joe breeding. I have had this line for near 30 years now and most of these Hounds come either the typical Bluetick or Redtick ...

Re: What type of hound
I find that a dog that is well balanced suits me best for most hunting, any time I get a dog that is too over the top in one area it seems like it screws up the whole works.

Re: why register your dog??
The main reasons I register my dogs is to keep track of bloodlines, I also liked to attend a competition hunt every now and then and of course the dogs needs to be registered with the registry sanctioning the hunt.

Re: recessive brown gene in blueticks
That Redtick pup is a throwback to the old days when Blueticks Walkers and English were all lumped together as English. I have been hunting and breeding English hounds for quite a few years and I have both Redtick and Bluetick colored dogs along with the occasional open spotted Walker look showing ...

Re: recessive brown gene in blueticks
At one time your Blueticks Walkers and English were all lumped together. While not common these days years ago every now and then a Redtick would show up in a litter of Blueticks also ticked up pups in litters of Walkers.

Re: Airedales
I can surely understand how one can get down a a breed or line of hunting dog when they have a bad experience. But it is a big mistake for one to paint any breed of hunting dog with a wide brush as sorry especially when one has limited experience with the breed. A few internet pictures or an I knew ...
