Re: Nice boars
Dang Colby, you get on some BIG hogs! Mine average 70-80 lbs, with our bigger boars in the 150-200 range. But you get some monster hogs. Good job!!

Re: 300lb boar and a 3000 dollar vet bill
Great story, enjoyed reading it. Too bad on the dog, but glad she is going to make it.
Those big boars are rough. I saw a video on youtube the other day with some hog doggers out of Alabama, man, they get on some monster boar hogs! Way bigger than the ones I get on down here in south Texas.

Re: Garmin DC50 Collar info and Review
Put the new DC50 to work today. It seemed ok, didn't notice a big difference with it versus my other collars as far as range goes. The bark sensor is not reliable at all. At one point, Jack was standing about 50 feet from me and not doing anything but breathing and suddenly the bark alert goes off ...

Re: Cali hogs!
There used to be no hogs in the northern part of the state around the Metroplex, now, like everywhere else in the country, the hogs are plentiful. I can't tell you where to go or who to hook up with, haven't lived there in 30 years.

Re: Cali hogs!
No one would hunt them legally here if we had to pay that for each hog. We'd really be overrun with them. As it is, if you are on private land, you don't even need a hunting license. Not too many rules, just kill/catch 'em all. A lot of people do catch and haul to market, but regardless, it's about ...

Re: Cali hogs!
Nice hogs. Is it difficult for you to locate good dogs over there? Wouldn't think it would be a big market? Here in Texas, there's a hog dog in every yard.
And did I understand you right, each hog requires a $21.34 tag?

Re: Couple caught hogs
Those are some good hogs, good job. I'm curious too about that good looking catchdog, is it an American Bulldog?
I've just made the switch from pits to ABs and I'm really liking them so far.

Re: Couple of sows we caught
Thanks for the compliments.
Just as in any breed of dog, there are some great Kemmers, some really good Kemmers, and there are plenty of culls.
I'm not an expert on the different bloodlines, so I defer to Mr. Kemmer, or others, for guidance.
The ones I have do hunt deep and have a lot of motor to ...

Re: Garmin DC50 Collar info and Review
I just got my first DC50 in today, to go along with 2 DC40s and 4 DC30s that I already have.
I did all of the software updates and now I'm just waiting for my next trip to the woods to test it out.
