My opinion of a reproducer is a dog that consistently reproduces pups that look and act like him, with the same ability and traits.

There are some Nance bred males around I have one that is reproducing, and I know of another close by me that is reproducing as well.

I am planning on making a heavy Line bred cross this spring that will have Sampson and Millie 4 times on both side's. Like Mike said these Nance dogs are not perfect, but I like em and have hunted them for over 30 years here in the dry ground southwest.

I don't think you can over obedience train a hound. However, with that said, there is a huge difference in a Houndsman and a hound hunter and how they handle and work dogs. Most of the "over obedience trained" dogs so to speak that I have seen are/were owned by hound hunters and not houndsmen.

You can also get a kit to test your female for ovulation for the correct time to breed her.
