Re: Rigging bobcats
I think mine are usually scenting the cat. let one off the rack and ran nose up to the cat and caught it.

Re: Oregon houndsmen training help
in central Oregon. I don't know how much a trainer would help. but if you've never experienced a dog fire and instincts kick in you be surprised. a single dog on a cat makes them work especially a dog with grit.

Re: Bobcat Hang Outs
summer to winter it changes and breeding season. I think with experience you get a better feel. I don't really look for habitat I hunt east side of the cascades out into the desert. usually just looking over terrain I think to myself "got to be a cat in here"

Re: Getting Right on Top of them
it's happened to me a few times on short tails. cat goes down a hole or a crack in the rocks. sometimes they will jump 15 feet to the tree and there will be 20 fifty foot pines hard to find the cat. I really think I most losses something like this happened.

Dog box
What would be your ideal dog box for winter bobcat hunting? Hunted out of a suv since I started. Bought a pickup and I'm looking for a box. Aldergrove dog is what I'm looking at over the rail with strike rack.

Re: Bobcat/coyote
They usually piss on coyote tracks run them out 300 yards full open and come back. If I'm not in the snow I know it's a cat or lion won't touch a bear or coon track. It eastern Oregon mosty desert. For 1 cat track it's around 50 coyote.

Re: Split Race
Nice to know I'm not the only one.........overthinking what happened or what could of happened or if there's something I should or done or not done. Helps me to sleep at night remembering what my mentor said "trust your dogs" what's even harder is trying to explain all this to a non bobcat...

Re: Some beginner questions from a hunter looking to get into hounds
I run a pit with 2 blueticks on cats. Has proven useful. Pit super protective of her pack.
