Kidney failure

I don't know what your hunting schedule is but another thing I'll add is that dogs that get running really hard just every once in a while might be shy higher risk. If a dog has a lot of drive but they don't run all the time they will damage and break down a lot of muscle when they do run hard. One ...

Re: Maybe a dumb question...

I never noticed it until I built a new winter kennel this year. Now my 3 are right next to each other. I have to dump food then stay out there until they’re done because I have to move their heated water bowls back to where they can reach. It’s just nice to sit there and listen to them and not do an...

Argentinian Dogo. Big white dogs, I know a lot of people use them as catch dogs for hogs. Originally bred for puma in South America.

Anybody using dogos on bear?

Really just pure curiosity here. Wondered if anybody throws a dogo in at the end of a race to try to force a tree? I know they have the physical tools to force the issue but I can foresee them getting smoked if they are going to actually try to go toe to toe and "catch" a bear. Has anyone ...

LED light bar brands

What are people using these days for LED light bars? I did find one old thread but wondering if there's anything new. I don't have a lot of money to spend but also don't want just the cheapest cheapo

God bless,
Tim

How did you come to hunt the dogs you hunt?

I forgot to mention that Plott I like can't cold trail to save his life right now. That's what I'll be looking for and working on.

How did you come to hunt the dogs you hunt?

My story is pretty short and probably not what you're looking for but I'm going to jump in so I can keep track of this conversation. I have 3 dogs right now plus three house dog. All of them were freebies and one I could never have afforded. I grew up hunting coyotes and used to have a running dog t...

Re: Has it always been this hard?

I don't really have enough experience to comment but I do have a line that I would probably be using in this situation.

It's not that I don't believe you, I just have to see for myself.

Do what you want and see how it works out for you.

Re: General questions

We probably had 1 out of 20 bears be mean and stay down during training. Came pretty dang close to losing a dog. Last week had a 352# bear leave 4 dogs with minor injuries and one torn up pretty bad but she'll live. He didn't. It was actually the first bear she ever caught up with so will be interes...

Bear gun?

What are you guys using for a gun with a bear on the ground when things get Western? I really want to buy a 45-70 to get an option of a little bit of range but maybe a nice slug gun is just as good.

What do you think?

Re: Barking on chain

Thanks guys. I moved them further away from the woods and it's been much better. But if we have a relapse I'm going to get a bark collar. I've tried a few times to shut him up and I get half way back to the house and he's going again.

Barking on chain

How much do you guys put up with? I have a young dog that is barking a lot any time he scents something but doesn't just sit there and bark. I hate to correct him but it doesn't work out so well when he does it at 2am.
