Find out if there are any guys with coon hounds in your area and invite them in for a hunt. Ask if you can tag along.

Not to answer my own question but the photo posted by cjohnson1178- that bear has a really big rump- bigger than the one I saw, would a 500 plus bear normally have that rump? Hey- this is exactly the thread I need. I'm in Florida and have seen a fair amount of bears both here- where you cannot hunt them- and in Canada (Ontario and Quebec) where I have hunted them. I think I'm a pretty good judge of bears.

I have been looking at some of the videos and hunting with hounds looks really exciting. How did most of you get started? Did you hunt with someone else that already had hounds or did you just buy some hounds and go for it?
