Re: Anyone use 02 summit 800?
I have used several. If its in good condition you cant go wrong. Ski-doo has made the best cooling sleds for years and I think they still do. The entire cooler goes almost the full length of the tunnel witch gives you alot better cooling. Definitely put a set of ice scratchers on it if it dosen't ha...

Re: Keeping dog tracks on Drivetrack
Im not 100% sure but I believe 2 hours is the longest setting on the alpha for dog tracks. Always make sure to start a new hunt to get the full 2 hours.

Re: Springtime Idaho bear hunt help
Besides very limited access, the lolo zone, 10/12 has the highest wolf population anywhere in the state. If you going to hunt there be prepared to deal with the wolves.

Re: Montana Wolves
One of the the biggest things that you can do is to make shure your young dogs are not just broke off deer and elk, but coyotes and wolves too. The last thing you want to have happen is your dogs cold trailing a cat and get off on fresh wolf tracks, that would end in disaster.

Re: Montana Wolves
Jeff,
The few times over the last 10 years that i have lost dogs there was nothing that i could have done to prevent it. Especially during bear season when you have no snow and have no idea where the wolves are. At least in cat season you can have sort of an Idea where they might be.

Re: Young dog starting to strike
Chasing critters is in their blood, your job is to teach them whats right and what is wrong. I start my pups on cats and bear or cougar drags, do this enough times that they know its fun and they love to do it. Then its time to break them off deer with a shock collar. You will hear different opinion...

Re: Montana Wolves
I have been hunting in wolf country as long as they have been in Idaho. I have lost several dogs over the years, its just one of those things that is going to happen sooner or later. If I find a cat track and there are any wolf tracks in the area i just head somewhere else, its not worth the risk. H...

Re: alpha 100 problems
I don't know about power lines and windmills. I get question marks off and on all the time too when my dogs get a ways out over a ridge or down in a deep drainage., id say its normal, for me anyways. 800 yards on flat ground, line of sight you should have em all the time id think.. There is no such ...

Re: alpha 100 problems
On flat ground, line of site? Or over the top of steep nasty country, makes a big difference. If your loosing them in flat country you probably have an issue. VHF radio's over 5 watts will damage your gps and collars, i learned that one the hard way! lol

Re: Trapping on Public Land
Here is the deal, trappers have the right to trap....we have the right to run our hounds. I have no problem with trappers, i even trap myself once in awhile. Whenever I run into a trapper, i stop to talk to them, I'm always nice and they usually always tell me what areas they are trapping. I have ha...
