Re: Fence/ kennel help
I was going to stretch the horse wire with the tractor and fence streatcher and use high tensile springs and tightners on the smooth wire. How is your setup working for you. My thoughts are less water bowls to fill up and less board dogs if I group them up. Thought about short chains for feeding ...

Re: Fence/ kennel help
Not the cheap garden fence . I'm going to use the heavy horse field fence. Might consider going larger.

Fence/ kennel help
Im considering making 20x30 pens to keep my hounds in. I will be using 60 inch tall horse fence(2x4 holes) and putting two strands of electric at the top to make it six ft high and a hot wire on the inside and outside to deter digging in or out. Using telephone poles for posts sincE I can get them ...

Re: Hollow trees
Not saying this is what's happening, just putting it out there. If I have a dog that is constantly treeing on hollow trees or den trees I like to hunt them in the snow to make sure they are not taking the easy way out and running backwards and getting treed on a den tree. Also I have piles of coon ...

Re: Hunting lion/bear with weimranars?
Why would a weimeraner and a hound cross make a hybrid? Wouldn't it just be another dog capable of producing offspring . I am always amazed with the 1000 dollar hybrids at the pet store but if there at the pound there a mutt

Re: Now What????
If I were in your shoes I would get them in shape and take them out together on a refresher it might take some time but if they were good dogs before they prob still have it in them. I would not put the pups with them till you know if they have any bad habits. Just my two cents.

Re: Tracking collars taking away from the hunt
I think after reading everything posted and thinking about it myself I prefer to hunt a hound that you could hunt without a tracking system but use one just I case. It's great to be able to jump out of the truck in an unfimilar place and know you can get back to it. But I still want a hound that ...

Tracking collars taking away from the hunt
Just wondered what everyone else thought of tracking collars taking part of the houndsmen experience away. By this I mean hunting dogs that blow out of the country and you have to use a garmin or other tracking system to find them and not getting to hear the race. I know a few people who pay more ...
