Every time a true hound man is lost it leaves a void that needs to be filled by us passing on the love of the hunt and the friendship of the hounds we share the woods with to the next young man in line.
Sorry to any feeling the loss.

Re: Mt. Lion Population Density Theory?
Even at your high estimate of 100 lions on a 270,000 acre spread, that's only one lion per 4 plus square miles of land. That kind of density is definitely found in localized areas of my state (Montana). In a state with the common sense approach to lion management as California has, higher densities ...

Re: Montana Problem Bears
Is there a law regarding me doing some sod busting and putting a dozen gardens or so in on national forest?.... which I would have to weed and protect from varmints. I do love fresh vegetables.

Re: Mountain Hunting Clothing
Marino wool against your skin is key in my opinion. Hell with any cotton. I avoid cammo clothing like the plague and won't spend the money on Sitka or Kuiu just for the name and cammo when other companies (Marmot, OR, Mammut) make just as good afternoon gear for way less. When it comes to the Marino ...

Re: Montana feild trial May 14th 15th
Any hound man who knows shit knows field trials are not a judge of a big game hound. They are as Duane said, a fund raising event for groups that are try to help maintain our way of life and a way to get together with otherwise non social people by nature. Aside from that, I try to stick to running ...

Great Article in Bear Hunting Magazine
I just read a great article in Marh/April issue of Bear Hunter Magazine. I am a member of Yellowstone Bear Hunters Association (an organization to look at joining) which is how I ended up getting a subscription. There is an article in there about the feud between spot and stalk/bait/hound bear ...

Re: Andy Jenson dog's here it is
Don't let my wife know that there is any type of possible economics behind hounds. I don't want to go set down with the accountant. I get as much out of watching a 3 month old pup take a track backwards or running a mule deer like it's their job as I do catching lion after lion with my "finished ...

Re: Andy Jenson dog's here it is
I personally would never pay $4000 for a dog. I'd be a single man with an over priced dog in my kennel when the smoke cleared. That said, when money like that is involved the expectations should be pretty high and anyone wanting to get money like that for a dog in the future should protect his ...

Re: Andy Jenson dog's here it is
I have heard of a few of these "Topper Again" dogs but have never thrown in on a race with one or seen them in action. How good of a line is this currently? Are they sold as hunted dogs by a hunter or breeder? I hear of what I consider to be large sums of money paid for dogs from the same kennel ...

I would hope that any fellow hound man would never take hard earned money on a dog he knew wasn't worth it.

Re: This sport is dead or dying?
I only can wonder how many people like bluetickhounddog, if that's your real name" are sniffing around on these sites? Point taken, baying up a bear is terrible, a dog fighting a coon on the ground is inexcusable, and you are not a houndsman. We should all be very vigilant of what we allow the world ...
