These collars work on the MURS frequency so 153mhz is roughly the middle of the band. A quarter wavelength for this frequency is roughly 18.5" which is what their standard antenna measures. A quarter wave antenna is a common length antenna for all frequencies. The long range antennas are 22.5" which is not a standard wavelength for this frequency as far as I can figure. Can someone please explain to me how you get more gain with an antenna that's not tuned for the frequency it's being used on?
Thanks
Randall

Re: Garmin TT15 long range antennas
It prob has a coIl in the base of it to get the opedence tuned just right. Like most gain antennas! Anything longer than a 1/4 wavelength antenna usually has this I believe.. I could be wrong just my guess
