RQE Interest

Postby Libby » Fri Dec 10, 2010 4:08 pm

Jerry Ray called me this morning to see what the interest was for an RQE in March.

I told him WSCA is doing nothing at all so wouldn't be interested in having one night. This might preclude you Montana or Clai guys from coming...if you were planning on it at all.

Need feedback.

I'm going out of town (should have left 1/2 hour ago) will be back Sunday.

Is there any interest in an RQE at MPHC?

Thanks

I'd be interested so long as it's not the weekend of the 12th or the 19th, as in CA we have a UKC event and Elk Creek Trial those dates.

LIBBY

DEFINATLY NEED A RQE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT. THE LATER THE BETTER FOR ME SINCE I'M HAVING KNEE SURGERY JAN 10TH AND WILL BE OFF MY FEET 4 TO 6 WEEKS SO MARCH WOULD DEFINATLY WORK FOR ME AS WELL.

WE NEED THIS EVENT FOR TWO DAYS BECAUSE THE WEST WAS ONLY REPRESENTED BY 5 OR 6 DOGS AT THE ZONES IN WY AND THE UKC REP COST $800.00 SO WE NEED A GOOD TURNOUT THIS YEAR OR WILL BE LEFT OUT IN THE COLD.

WANTED TO ADD THAT THE RUMUR IS CA IS NOT HAVING A RQE SO THERE COULD BE A REAL NICE TURN OUT AT EE WILSON THIS YEAR.

Libby we always try to make the trip.coming so far it would be better to have 2 nites.I talked to Allen at ukc and the western states will be having Qualifying mini slams instead of rqes. so you have a chance to get in the zone and make some $.hopefully you get the interest of enough if so see you in march

I spoke with Jerry last night, and he's going to talk to Bob Baker and see about places to hunt.

Brady, I do not know how participation is going in No Cal, but it's gotten pretty slim in OR & WA. Bob Baker continues to keep relationships with the land owners of few hunt spots MPHC has left to use, but no new ones are coming in. In fact, as more people move to the area, more spots are being lost.

MPHC has presented three Beagle programs with ODFW for handicapped, women, and youth hunters for the last 20 some years. Next year they just do not have enough beaglers left to offer help and dogs for the hunt programs to bring more people into hunting.

I did mention to him the benefit of two nights in bringing in people from afar, and offered my husband and I for BSJ/MOH and cleaning up for the second night, but it's a heck of a burden on Bob Baker, who is no spring chicken, to provide hunting areas and for Jerry to process the paperwork and cordinate everything else.

I commend MPHC for all they put in to keep any hunt events going. It is a money losing venture with the amount of participation we've had in the last couple years. Maybe our political leaders do not grasp economics, but an entity can only exist so long as a money loser in the real world and then it whithers away.

I'll post when more is heard, and it needs to be heard soon for UKC.
