Yeah we had one run across a lake the other night, our first bobcat race but that thing went across the middle and that made me a little nervous watching the dogs work across the ice like that. Thought I was going to have to go swimming

Well i made it out friday night/ sat morning, spent 15 hours in the mts, in a snow storm, we got well over a foot of snow and the windchill was -8 F, everyone thought i was nuts  I knew when i found a track it would be hot!! and i did. ran that cat straight up the mt and put it in a rock cave with another cat. The hole wasent even big enough for me or the dog to get in or we would of had a cat. Now that i know where they are living any suggestion?

Keep hitting that cave or general area after every snow storm, probably find a fresh track a lot in that general area, especially if there is more then one. They might not always be staying there though. if you find an area like that keep at it and you'll eventually probably put one up

Derek,

Be prepared for lots of holes. I also live just south of Erie. We get some good chases but more often than not they end up under rocks. I believe the ice we got today is going to put a damper on our hunting. We have treed one this year, which was on Sat., and taken 4 while running, but have probably chased a dozen and we usually get about a 400 yd chase and down. It is frustrating but when things work out it is all worth it.

Well this week the ice got the best of my hound, he was putting pressure on that cat and right to the water it went and started running a beaver valley. Let’s just say the ice wasn’t too thick, but we managed to get out alive, got a little cold in the process. You guys were right about bobcats and water, it ran right straight down that stream and then on to the ice

I wish I could quit my job and run dogs all the time, its all I look forward to doing any more.
I will get me a bobcat even if it kills me!!
