Not to start a "fight" if thats what you guys view of past posts of mine, but a few things on all these posts continue to piss me off. I do not beleive in this plan yet I understand why it came to be although none of you think so. I have tried to help Oregon sportsmen in the past by giving helpful information here so time isn't wasted in eronous battles. The fix in this is a reinstatment by vote of sport hunting with hounds, which as elluded to earlier will take time money and a lot of luck if it can ever happen.

MEASURE 18 WAS A VOTER PASSED INITIATIVE. Whether you think the govenor pushed it or whatever you beleive, the uninformed majority of Oregon's non-hunting public passed it. PERIOD... The people of Oregon are the ones who took these privalleges away. Whatever has happened since then I am not going to debate, as what I have said has fallen of deaf ears.

Secondly, I am a little confused so I will give a little information for all on this board. In Oregon STILL TODAY, a landowner or agent of a landowner is allowed to pursue and kill lions or bears causing damage to livestock without contacting ODFW before the fact. All kills must be reported after. Landowners and ajents are allowed to kill lions and bears for human safety concerns as well but may not use hounds without approval for these type of pursuits. ODFW typically has an employee or WS agent handle human safety calls. A huge chunk of the lions killed in Oregon are killed under these livestock losses. Many claims are BS, some are real. Houndsmen killing lions/bears for sport and claiming them as damage cats are not helping themselves or there image.

Thirdly, If it is too confusing for dogs to know when they are working for the state and when they are just sport hunting as eluded to in an above post and people are going to harp on this, then I would reccomend not using your Oregon dogs to run bears as many of you have shown pictures in the past. I am sure all those bear stories and pictures from oregon posters were from out of state though, right? When a person commits themselves to handling damage they are committing themselves and their animals to these pursuits. If you don't want your dogs running bear, dont run them in oregon or another sate. If you want your dogs to run bears then do it but don't complain about it. As for lion, every decent bobcat dog is going to catch lions. I would recommend not intentionally turning out on them in the snow as many do.

In the past I have tried to be very nice here as I view the loss of these privaleges a huge deal. A friend compared it to growing up in a very religious house hold and going to church every day, then one day someone passed a rule that said you couldn't go to church anymore. Dogs are a huge part of our lives and have steered many of our lives, this is an important issue and I have tried to help here this however is the last post for me on this topic as I am tired of the same flawed comments. If any of you chose to involve yourself in this battle I would reccomend to get all the factual knowledge you can, as many on here have. Unfortunately many still just want to throw temper tantrums.

This is exactly what I’m talking about when I mean that people do not need to come onto this site and argue over one another’s opinions. I do NOT in any way want WWY to feel that his opinion is not valued or his thoughts are not taken to hart because they are. I respect every ones opinions and enjoy hearing what every one has to say about the topic. When I said “FIGHT” I meant that if one voices there opinion about the topic it would be nice if some one did not come up behind them and tell them that they are wrong.

I for one know why this plan came about. WE the PEOPLE of oregon voted to stop hound hunting. OK when I say WE I mean Anti's, un-knowing city people, Tree huggers and so on. The only way to get hound hunting back is to get it to vote again. People need knowledge about hound hunters. Knowledge that they do not have.

10-4 :D I agree with Nora...I am pretty sure we all know how this came about..... What makes people believe we don't, I am not sure.. We don't have to agree with this plan.... The beauty of living in the good ol US of A.... We don't have to support it... I do know that one of the first comments by readers in the Medford Mail Tribune after their last article was someone who wanted to know how we could do this and not break the law in the off time.. I thought it was a legitimate question, of are they going to be under close scrutiny for it.. And if you hunt when there is no snow it is going to be damn hard to know what your dogs are striking.... I still think it is a good question

I got a call from Mr. Sowa about this thread last night, I think he just wants to affirm that he has offered to help at convention and he is willing to help. I think some things mentioned about him kinda rubbed him the wrong way... Since he's not a computer guy, I assured him that I would let everyone know he is willing to help.

More importantly, and Kinda why I haven't said anything about this topic before now, is we need something to work on... I think that is more what Nora Meant by her comments about Larry. I'm positive that Nora has allot of respect for Mr. Sowa.

I personally don't like this Agents of the state, several reasons but more importantly it is starting to "Sealing the Deal" so to speak in oregon. For the last 3-4 years this issue was building Pressure, That pressure was what was needed to accomplish something. If we wait until these Agents Kill off "ALLOT" of Cougars and throw them in the RoadKill Pit.. That pressure will be released and we won't have a leg to stand on... .. Just my Opinion. Probably a good indication of this is the fact that the Animal Rights Groups have not Sued over the cougar plan yet. Why not??.. maybe it's because they had the fore sight to put this into the law and this is a part of BM18... this is what they wanted.. What they didn't want is you to Enjoy hunting cougars. Or maybe it's because the could feel the pressure building up??

are you ready to collect signatures, Raise money? Are you Willing to Risk Never getting back Bear hunting with Dogs to win the cougar hunting back.. Or We can Sit around on our Thumbs another year or Two and kiss it all good bye as the Glue of this Bill starts to dry up our chances..

Our time to act is getting shorter. So unless people are ready to put in the last fight and take this issue to the Ballot for the Third time.. No point in talking about it. And I seriously Think this Could Be the Make or Break it i point.. It will be either three Strikes your out, or Third times a Charm.. But Folks I'm guessing that we won't have this opurtunity three years down the road.

A good thing about his phone call, (Besides it's a Very Sobbering experience sunday evening to pick up the phone and Hear his voice!! :) was that I hadn't talked to him in a quite a while. He has allot of experience, he has allot of contacts.. and allot of knowledge. If you can bear to wait through that short pause before Mr. Sowa speaks, you can learn allot.

One thing is for sure I think it's time for an OUSDA meeting and try to get organized and make some hard decisions.
