For AZ hunting season on bobcat and fox is august 1st - march 31. So basicly there is a 4 month no hunting season. Can't hunt them at night here. Used to be year round but that was changed I think in 2006... this covers all types of hunting not just hounds. So maybe they thought the callers was killing to many mothers with young during those months, only reason I can think of for shutting us down for the hotter months.

We can run coon during those 4 months training only... and coyote and skunks are still year roud! weee

cooter,

You get up into those mountains around Prescott in August in the early am or late pm and it's not that hot. I ran lions all summer last year in a unit that isn't to far from Prescott, I just had to get there before the sun came up and was back at the truck around 1030 when the mercury really started to climb. Also I run bears in August so I guess the dogs just get used to the heat since sometimes it will be 90 degrees while chasin the bears. Heck if it is anything like last year just wait around town we had several bobcat incidents around the state where the cats came into town one of them actually went into a bar and was attacking people.

KORDOG. Have you ever tried rigging for cats here in maine? I'm going to try it this year and see what happens. Gotta figure we have no snow usually till end of december so it would give another month! Corey

no i havent just bear and coon . getting a dog enough experience and being able to trust that it is a cat they are striking is going to be the hard part ,cause there is no way to check for tracks . once you get the dog you can rely on it will probably work good . were not really filthy with bobcats like some lucky states so strikes will be few and far between i would think . but i have wondered the same thing after watching a video tape of them rigging bobcats on nw hunter . goodluck
