Maybe I'm doing it wrong. I could be saving some dog food. Does anyone have a true treeing beagle? Or one that rigs. Just wondering.

Re: Beagles on bobs!
I've caught various critters with my beagles over the years. They were not natural tree dogs and did better if they could see it, yet I've been to many trees with just a beagle at the bottom.
This pic is one of three different trees I was at in one day in the mid 1980's. All bears.

This pic is a couple months ago. That beagle ran that cat hard and put it up in about 20 minutes(the feral cats around here just don't go up without real pressure esp. in winter). Not a great pic because the terrier at 7 mo. was getting in the way.

its so cool to see all you guys have, or have had beagles that hunt..i honestly believe a beagle from good hunting stock can be molded to hunt whatever game one would like to..now i havent been around huntin hounds too long, maybe about 5 years, but from what i've seen of all different breeds of hound, the beagle shows the most desire and prey drive as a pup..hell i've seen the fat couch potatoe house beagle get a wild hair up his ass and chase the kitty around for awhile..they're amazing little dogs thats for sure. stubborn as all hell, with a nose and brains to match..the epitomy of a "hound" if you ask me lol

i know of a few guys here that run beagle/plott mix on cats. The male Plott is Paul Laney's best dog i hear.. would love to put my female in with that dog.
