Hyp is all over trying to sell them traps for Bob, Must be getting a pretty good kickback, nobody elses traps even compare with them according to him. There are several cage makers out there that make as good or better traps than the ones Hyp is trying to sell.

idaho, you're probably wright i see the same pictures all over the internet. asked him a question in a pm about what size trap he prefered and never got an answer. and being that the guy who builds the traps only wants to sell them in so called clusters. i was thinking that hyp and the cage maker are posibly the same person. guess ya never know. but it does truly amazes me what some folks will do for free advertising. good luck and take care!

They are not the same guy but I do believe he is getting a kick back from briar patch for him plugging everything good about them traps. I think they are well built traps I have seen one but never used it. Mercer out of california makes a great cage as well as Shrouder out of nebraska,Also there are a couple others farther east. He is just getting around the no advertising rule on most forums for briar patch cages, He is not the one selling them so he in theory isn't advertising. The worst part is he has only used cages for one season so he realy has no idea what a good cage is in my opion it takes a little longer than one season and a lot more exsperminting to be as knowledgable as he thinks he is.

I have to use either cage traps or snares in my State. I was told it was very hard to lure a cat into a cage but obviously not true. What size cage would you think best? I've thought about making my own because to me the price ($70) seems high. My problem is working out a good door. Did you use only lure in the trap or bait (food) as well? I'd really like to trap a few bobcats.
Letting the females go- good idea- how you do it? I thought bobcats would probably try to bite you.

I like a taller cage for bobcats. The ones I make for my self are 18" tall and 10 to 12" wide I also make them 36 to 40" long. As for the door its really easy if you spend a little time looking around on the web sites you will see how the other guys are making them and you can make something close to theres. I loke to use the drop down or guillotine type door. As for it being hard Im not so sure about that I know that Mercer traps down in southern Cal and Nv. and puts up around 100 each yr. If you get a small one or a female and you want to just turn it loose open the door and stand back its really easy.
