Getting hung up was another thought I forgot about. Have even thought about thesafety vest so the dont get shot or hit by a car. But same reasons for that. Although might get away with it in winter except for hanging up.

Does MN compensate for dog losses? There is talk that once delisted they will not pay out anymore in WI. It's not much. Price of a good started dog, but something anyway. I bet if you said you shot the wolf they would be out right away. Here we have to call the USDA.

yeah i understand your concerns . but our gear has come a long way . i'm not talkin about the big heavy catch vest. we have lightweight kevlar [ strike vest ] now that are designed for the running dogs . i am going to them this year. some of my huntin buds allready run them . and these hogs will take you into some of the thickest stuff you could imagine . they have had no trouble with hanging up or overheating in the winter . just a thought i know the wolves are here to stay and it sucks to have a dog killed by them or a good beagle to a yote for that matter . good luck to you all .

I don't think Minnesota will compensate for the dog. From what I read so far.

So, so sorry about your dog. I live in Idaho and we are just plain being over run by these killers. Recently one was killed by a hunter, this wolf weighed 290 lbs.
Just think about this: these animals eat half there body weight at each feeding (150 lbs) x that by as many as 15 per pack. Thats over 2200 lbs of meat at each feeding for one pack. NO WONDER WE DON'T HAVE ANY GAME!!!!! How long before they start eating us. Our elk and deer herds here in Idaho will never be the same. I have hunted my whole life and I have never seen so few animals, and I do not road hunt either.
Hunting as I have known it is over and it will stay that way for many years to come.
Once again so sorry for your loss.

Jordan, have you talked to any of the C.O.s yet? I talked with one here the other day and from what I understood the way he told me that if they can verify that is a wolf kill that a you might be able to get some compensation of some sort, he did not know if there was any funds available right now but you could be put on some sort of waiting list. Check with John Hart in Grand Rapids 327-3350, he works for the U.S.D.A, he was or maybe still is a Government trapper, he may be able to help you out or steer you in the right direction.

Well there babyjoybrown Im not calling you a liar or anything but the largest wolf EVER recorded was only 175 pounds ( And that was in Alaska!!!) so i would say 290 pounds is a bit of a tall tail!! haha i do agree though these friken wolves are getting out of control!!
