Those short CB 22 rounds work real well on anything from bobcat on down and don't do much damage to the skin. They barly make a sound if shot from a rifle. I shoot them all in the head just above and between the eyes. Bullet is moving slow so enters the skull and scrambles the brain but is stoped by the skin before it exits so only one small entry hole, even on realy small animals like spotted skunk or ringtailed cat.

For bears and lions I have only used a 30-30 shot them all in the chest area fast death.

I use a single six with the long rifle cylinder for lions, bobcat, and coon. Bullet placement is more important than choice of caliber.
