Re: Great New Book!
Mark,
According to page 76 the cover Photo is of "Belle", an Earl Davis bred female. She was quite a little TW Cat Dog out of Great Cat Dogs.
Their story is just one of the many to be found between the covers of " The Northern Bobcat Dog".

Re: Great New Book!
C John is correct. Belle was the dog that changed me from a frustrated cat hunting but never cat catching individual into a happy and proud cat catching individual. She was out of Earls Twist and Goldie (sail). Bobby Brown and Brian Miller each had a litter mate to Twist. Kevin Blankenship just told me he has puppys on the ground that go back to these dogs and back to Elmers Hammer and Kevins Sarah. I would sure be trying to get one if I was hunting. I dont know if any are for sale though.
Re: Great New Book!
I just had a fun memory of Bobby Brown I better write it down before it's gone again. This speaks of the number of cats in the area because I cant imagine using this method in the areas I have lived the last 20 years. I was hunting a certain ridge in the coast range and here came another hunter rigging the same road. Darn. It was Bobby. He had a plott on the box and I remember being completely confused by that. He asked me if I had any cat hides for him to buy and then he told me he had already been down this road a few times and that he would keep running it till a cat crossed. He said there is one just about to cross it, in fact he was a little late, ha ha. And that is what he did. And I have no doubts that he caught cats that way. The track would sure be hot when he did hit one. I remember being at his place and the big tumbler where he cleaned all the furs. It was heated and had sawdust in there and man, the furs came out of that thing looking so amazing. It was like a huge front loading laundry dryer but I think it was actually made for tumbling hides.

David,
You old trickster!! So you were in hiding while you were writing the book? Sure hope it does help a lot of people out. As it always seems that you are very sincere in all your writings on this site.
Also, I hear you're going in to the hospital. Hope everything turns out well, and we'll say a prayer for you at our house. Talk again, and good luck.
Take care, Willie

Re: Great New Book!
Ol Bobby Brown lol........ He was a character for sure! He told me one time that nobody wanted to buy a $500 dog but put a $3500 price tag on it and they have to have it. David, the blood you speak of in Kevins pups has been kept alive by both him and Leon Olson. Leon had a male dog that just passed on a few months ago at the age of thirteen. Anyone that got to hunt with Claude and understood cat dogs knew they were seeing and hearing something special! We managed to get Claude's semen collected a year ago with very good counts. Claude would be the grandfather of the pups Kevin has on the ground now. It would be very hard to get one of those pups i think.

thank you for the prayers. They paid off, literally. It is just a hernia repair for those who might be worried. And when I found out that it would cost me 10,000 out of pocket I went shopping and found a place in Maryland that would do it for 1,900! so I am putting it off till I can go there. Might try to take one or both kids and see Washington DC as we have never been there. Can take them, stay in hotels eat well and still save thousands over what they want to charge me here in MN.
About the pictures, when I read the book, they dont bother me. If I just page through looking at pictures, they do, so I dont know, it will kind of depend on the feed back I get from those pictured etc.
C John, you are going to have people so built up I am afraid of what they will think when they actually read it LOL. I cant even imagine a book as good as the one you are describing. I am wondering what in the world I accidentally sent to you.
It sure is nice to hear that you like it though, as you are the first person I have heard from, and honestly was kind of holding my breath. I kept telling my self "well dad probably wont like it but it will give him some stuff to pray about. And at least my mom will like it since no body else will" LOL Mom used to tell me she would pray for me when I left to hunt. Dad always said he would pray for the bobcats. I told him I sent him a 400 page prayer list Ha ha.
C. John and any one else interested: let folks know that if they ship me an email at tbdatb@yahoo.com I can get them on a list there so I can let everybody know what is going on with the book and when I can ship etc. It would also help me know about how many to have printed. If any one thinks they would want a hard bound copy at outrageous hard bound prices (not sure what they cost. Every time i mention the possibility to the printer he just says "you dont want to do that" never has mentioned the price) let me know. We could run a few of those possibly too if any interest.

Thank you Budd, good to hear from you. I often think about Mike and am anxious for him to see the book. I hope you guys at least gave them cats time to eat up there this year.
Re: Great New Book!
David I got my book yesterday Thank you. I spent half the night reading it. This is far more than a book about bobcat hunting . You have a gift for writing in a way to get the thought across so that you are there. It sure brought back memories of the past and old friends, people and dogs. You take care. Dewey

Re: Great New Book!
David,
I'm on the Bill Young section and I'm really, really enjoying the book so far. I've got Jack for spring break so it's taking me quite a bit longer than normal to get the time to read it. I've heard many parts of all of these stories but it's very interesting to see it all laid out. I had no idea you had put together so much material. What an accomplishement!! It's one thing to have all that in your head. With how much you've devoted to hunting cats there is no suprise there. It quite another thing to put it all on paper. That's an impressive amount of information. The bios. are awsome and very good reading. I can't wait to dig back in. Next time through I'll have my pencil and the work will begin. You'll have to forgive me for makeing the first run through for fun. Your certainly not wasting the talents God gave you.

Re: Great New Book!
I got mine today. Took me a half hour to make it down the driveway because I was too busy looking though it. Then, at home, I had to force myself to put it down. I'm sure glad its supposed to rain tomorrow so I can read.
