i know what your talking about when ya say warm and cold tracks, but what is the benefit of dog following a cold track? When does a warm track become a cold track? Do cold tracks usually become warm tracks?
Since I already have a Blue, what other hounds would benefit my pack if I planned to run Bob, keeping in mind I have no experience with hounds so this isnt a Ford/Chevy discussion, yet... lol
Also If I can only "hunt" bobcat from late september to Early January, what other game could I run with the pack?

You would benifit from all the breeds. If your lookin to run bob's, then you should look for a smarter dog, your blue tick should do just fine. One importent thing you most rember about runing any kind of cat is you only need 1-2 dogs any more then that could cause you to over run the track. What I mean by over running a track is, if your dogs have a problem working the track and have to go back and forth to try and straightin it out to many dogs will run the track into the ground and make it disapear. And colder nosed dog tend to make better cat dogs, and yes a cold track turns into a worm track, thats what they mean when some one says there dog wormed it up and straightined it out, if the track goes from hot to cold that means your dog is running it back words and going the wrong way. And to answer your question about what other game you can run, you can run fox, bear, bobs, lions, coon all with the same dogs. The only perblem with that is until you know your dogs trates, you will never know what he's barking at until you get to the bay or tree. Thats why I try to only run a few thing with the same dogs. Like my hog dogs also run coon but thats the only two things they run, my bear dogs run cat, mostly lion because to be honest I dont have a good bob cat dog yet, and belive me it takes a good dog to catch bob's not so much to run them but catching them is a whole different story. But if your looking to make a pack of dogs the breeds I like are Walkers,Plott's and Catahoulas. Walker's are a great alaround dog, good nose, speed and tree hard. Plott's are the same thing just with more grit. The Catahoulas dont make the best cat or bear dogs, but they do have the grit to put up mean game, I use my Catahoulas mainly for Hogs and cows and every now and then I'll have to cut them in on a mean bear just to put him up a tree. If your gonna hunt hogs well you cant beat a good cur dog, and plotts do it great to. The other hounds have a totaly differant method of take for a hog( run it til it cant run no more) and to tell you the troth, as long as there not real rough thats ok if you like the long races, but hog huntin is a rescue mission most of the time. And about your question about the benifits of a colder nosed dog, is you will be able to start older tracks , but most of the time on a super cold nosed dog you spend half your time huntin dog. But a good cold nosed dog that knows what it can and can't run is hard to beat. Hope I've answered your questions ok. This is just what I have learned about hound huntin. I'll tell you the best thing is try to find an old timer houndsmen and most of those guys have forgoten more about the sport then I have ever learned. I have only been runnin dogs for 8 years and I'm only 27 years old. But I have done just that learned from old timers like my Father-in-law he's been runnin dogs for 45 years and he still shows me somthing new every time we go out.

yes that did answer my question, my next training excercise I think for my pup is to add in another dog/pup to the mix and see if his attitude changes, i.e. becomes more competitive. I wonder if he'll start paying more attention to the ground and then when game is found if he'll try to get in and grab some fur.
Not really looking for a fighting dog just looking to improve my pup, even though he is still a youngn, id like to see him chase something instead of me finding the game and setting him on it, lol, which is weird cause now I have seen more game than usual and I have a dog that should be doing my work for me, lol

He's still young, dont count him out yet. You will be suprised when he hits two years old, mybe even younger. It all dependes on his pray drive. And please nobody hammer me on this ,but the Blue ticks out her seem to be realy lazy, Now I'm not saying there all lazy just the ones I've seen. My father-in-law has one his name is Cash,I call him 50 cent, because every other race he only goes half way. He's one hell of a strike dog but he's a little to lazy for me. But I have also seen those bench breed walkers, plotts and red ticks the same way. I have seen a big differance in the Big Game bred Blues and a coon bred Blue too, so that makes a big diferance, along with all of the breeds, the most diferance I've seen is in the Catahoula breed, there's a cow bred dog and a hog bred dog, people may laugh and say I'm full of it , but it's true and the same goes with the big game bred hounds and coon dogs.
