The best excuse I ever heard came from a horse trader. He had sold a man a horse and it died. His response to this was " he didn't do that when I owned him". LOL
I can make 'em go and I can make 'em Whoa !
God makes 'em do.
I'll take Jesus, you can have the field

One we heard just the other day from a friend who had a guy hunting with him. Our friend is the "real McCoy bear hunter", we do not bear hunt. After the guys dogs quit a bayed bear and our friends dog stuck and ended up treeing the bear........the statement was "these are top hounds if the bear goes up a tree".

others

- huh, they never did that before
- needs more trailing experience
- too hot, too wet, too much dew, etc.
- you have a lot more game than I got in my country.....(i.e., more opportunities)
- you get to hunt more than I do

my favorite:

-my dogs like me too much, that is why they came back

hell it ain't the dogs, i'm the one who picked them. however if you don't want to be made a liar don't say anything... it's like the guy who spends half the day sight trailing in mud or sand and the dogs are off chasing rabbits or skunks. one way or the other he is on the wrong course.

have heard this one a lot, bad scenting conditions ! which sometimes I believe that is the case, have heard its to dark tonite hounds cant see, to much fresh water meaning rain, and I believe that can happen, after its been really dry and it comes a good shower, if one don't find where raynard has been quick , I believe his sent goes down with the rain, have heard this one, ground is froze, I know that's not so cause a lot of you hunt in snow haha, have heard its cause its full moon everything acts stupid on full moons and last but not least, a possum crossed the road in front of us coming to the woods tonite he is the last thing to eat scavenges scraps from everything else, they all done fed early ! used to hunt with a guy that would literally turn around and go home because a possum crossed in front of him

The only time I make excuses is when I catch the cat. I start thinking this must be one dumb cat for me to catch it.
