I'm gonna try an answer so people who know more can tell me more. I think each game species leaves scent differently. And each has its own escape. Hounds trained with specific purpose letting the cream rise are sellectively bred. Over generations a lion or bear or bobcat line occurs. Now, in one single generation this can be overturned if not properly trained, tested and culled. For me its best to start with a stock containing traits you desire. Kinda like poker. You can learn the basic strategy in five minutes but after a lifetime never perfect hounds nor houndman. Did that make any sense?
