Yes I still have Gus he is coming 14 and still a traveling son of a gun. He has no bottom in him and is as agile as a cat. Smooth ride as well.

Awesome pics everyone. I really enjoy seein the country, horses, hounds, gear and even a mule here and there.......just kiddin. Can you believe we are on page 4 and there is no DRAMA.....yet. This is good stuff. Please keep the pics commin.
Was expectin to see some more brandin pics, isn't anyone branding yet?
As soon as i can get someone talked into putting some pics on the computer i'll share our ride last week. Took a butt kickin from a lion but it was still good times, and Frosty trained my horse to sit down......he said that it would be easier for a fat, lazy, idiot to get on her that way. I do have to agree, it was.
Take care, jason

Jason,
I'm thinking of getting married for the 4th time.
I don't have anyone in mind yet, but I'd like someone here to feed the dogs and horses while I'm gone.
Do you think Frosty could do his magic with a woman.
I don't need her to sit though, just not talk except to maybe say hi once in awhile.
I can cook just fine, I just don't argue very well.
Thanks.
John

Oiler coach Bum Phillips when asked why he takes his wife on all the road trips.
Phillips: “Because she is too damn ugly to kiss good-bye.”
Not sure if it's true, just funnier than hell. A been there done that moment.

Hagerman,
I sure can give her a try. I may be able to train her to sit on her a$$ but the experience I have had usually ends up with her buckin ya off as soon as you try to get on.

Bryan,
I can almost smell the burning hair and the KRS. LOL!
As much as I love to work cattle horseback I never had any great love for brandings until I got asked to start dragging them to the fire. It was a graduation of sorts and I started pretty early and that was usually a job reserved for the older hands who had earned their mark. I started in the outside pens for the first couple years. We would generally brand about 500 head a day, and have four ropers working the main pen and then two to three ropers dragging the slips that make it thru the cut. It took a bit longer to rope out those slipped calves cuz you had to work thru the heards of bawling momma cows looking for junior. I do miss those days however and it seemed the whole month of June was one branding after another all up and down the river. this was back in the days when neighbors threw in and went one place to the next to roudup and brand. The food and fellowship was first class. The smell of the earth and even the dew covered weeds in the old corrals in the early morning giving way to the blazing noon days sun with billowing dust and smoke. I can always remember just how quiet it seemed when the fire was put out and the cow and calves were all mothered up again.
I wrote a poem about that one time if I can find it I will try to post it.
thanks for the memories.
HERE IT IS:
WEEDS
By: Mike Leonard 5-24-07
I GUESS SOME MIGHT THINK IT FUNNY ME A TALKING ABOUT MERE WEEDS
THE KIND THAT SHOULD BE PULLED AND BURNED SO AS NOT TO SPREAD THEIR SEEDS
THE BIG GREEN KIND THAT GROW TALL IN SOFT SOIL AROUND AN OLD CORRAL
FIRE WEEDS AND PIG WEEDS HUMBLE THINGS AND THE TUMBLEWEED AS WELL.
I REMEMBER EARLY JUNE MORNINGS WHEN THE AIR WAS CLEAR AND SHARP
IT WAS THE BREAKING DAWN OF BRANDING DAY A TIME DEAR TO MY HEART
THE NEIGHBORS CAME TO HELP US GATHER EM UP THE DAY BEFORE
AND NOW IT WAS TIME TO SADDLE AGAIN AND CORRAL EM UP FOR THE BRANDING CHORE.
NOW BACK TO THEM WEEDS I WAS TALKING ABOUT WHEN I STARTED THIS HERE TALE
WHEN THE COWS AND CALVES START STOMPING THEM THEY GIVE OFF A PUNGENT SMELL.
NOT REALLY SO BAD, JUST EARTHY AND STRONG, BUT IT STICKS IN ONE’S MEMORY
WHEN THE BRANDING , CUTTING AND DE-HORNING HAS BEEN DONE, AND WE KICK EM OUT TO MOTHER UP, NOT A WEED WILL BE LEFT TO SEE..
CLOVEN HOOVES OF THE MILLING BEASTS HAS STOMPED THEM AWAY AND THERES NOTHING BUT BARE EARTH AND DUST.
BUT THEIR TINY SEEDS ARE NOW HIDING JUST UNDER MOTHER EARTH’S CRUST
AND JUST LIKE THE NEW CALVES THAT WILL COME NEXT SPRING THOSE WEEDS WILL SPRING BACK FROM THE GROUND
AND THEIR SMELL WILL GREET US ONCE AGAIN WHEN BRANDING TIME COMES AROUND.
I can almost smell the burning hair and the KRS. LOL!

Those are all some great pictures..
Here are a few.. I have lots of videos but not many photos on the computer..
This is Tester.. he was out of horse called Screen Play that was out of Doc O'lena and a Docs Prescription Mare wasn't much fun to ride in the rocks
But was one of the best I ever rode in the Arena
Flip... he got his name honestly.. He was out of a son of Mr San Peppy and a King Leo bred mare.. he was really good in the rocks and made a fair heeling horse
And Mr Googles.. He was Little Peppy and out of King bred mare...He was a good ride..
This is a Impressive Bred horse.. not really what I like but I heeled a lot steers behind him
This was an old fashion bred palamino mare that I calf roped on and reined on..
And of course my mules.. Jet and Jenny
