who has the best bobcat dogs in the northwest?
Re: who has the best bobcat dogs in the northwest?
Donny Smith had a line of dogs he had bred up off a dog named "hound Dog". I hunted around Donny, never with him, but I've seen his dogs in action and they were true N.W. varmint dogs esp. on bobcat.

If you hunt straight cat's and are smart enough to know what you want in a dog then your going to be succesful. I can promise you that every good dog out there makes mistakes every once in a while. If you catch alot of cat's it's because you put lot's of time into what your doing and have the experiance to back it up. There are alot of good houndsman out there for this reason. Jealosy does'nt catch you cat's. Lieing to yourself doesn'nt either. If you need to judge someone elses dog's you might want to go with them more than once, sometimes they don't always show there full potintial on the first hunt. Cobalt I hope idaho's treating you well. I alway's enjoyed your company, not to mention you were a good houndsman.

I would have to say the finest blood of cat dogs origanated along time ago in Kentuckey frome a man buy the name of Hershal Jointer i would bet money that his pups have caught more cats than any blood line in the country. They started in forkes and worked there way down south and they have been crossed up for twenty years. There is a few guys that hunt that line and catch more in one season than most do in five

TRW,
We heard nice things about you from JC Padgett!
Where was this Mr. Jointer from as we have never heard about him....when did he live and where?
Till then you might want to rethink the "Bet" as there are some lines of Hounds in South Texas that catch Hundreds...literally... of Bobcats each year and have done this for 50 or so years.
There are several fellows that hunt the same line of Hounds just like the Lion Hunters out west. They are furtunate that they have some young Hunters filling their BIG Shoes!
When you put three or four of these Pack's numbers together the number of Bobcats who have met their Waterloo is impressive to say the least!
Good Running to All!
