Good idea to keep that pup within reach. She's about the right size for a wolf snack. :( You should keep your eyes open on this board - as I'm sure you are aware, from time to time someone is selling a shock system.

Okay so I had the day off today and decided to spend it out hiking the canyons here on the ranch with Bella. Boy oh boy we found one heck of a honey hole. It is rough country, but let me tell you I have never seen so many old kills and scratches. Found lots of good stuff. I have been working Bella on old cat scratches and she is now finding them on her own :) I took some photos and videos. :)

I dont know if you have bobcats. But it could be a trappers bobcat cubby. We use barrels like that sometimes...

It's good to see that pup wanting to pay attention. As long as she's willing to trash on everything, all you need is to find a fresh lion track to trash on! Keep us posted. If I could learn from you, maybe I wouldn't have to spend so much money on dogs. :joker

Benny, oh she likes to trash. I let her go too, except on cattle. I got her finding those scratches on her own now. I have always trained my pups on lion and bobcat scratches. She has it figured out that that is the scent I want her to go look for. She did really well today. We went about 9 or 10 miles in some rough country and walked for 6 hours straight. She had fun chasing chipmunks on the way back. She even surprised me when we were driving home she was in the back of the Rhino and she rigged a deer that was up on a hill. Never seen her blow up like that. Next thing you know she will be rigging lions.

You need not spend money on dogs. You have something good in that line there. She is so smart and easy to train. I have a feeling she will be treeing her own lion as soon as she hits a fresh scratch.

Tessa,
You need to be careful. By encouraging her to start that rediculous rigging, she could blow the top off of that company owned Rhino, and you would have to repair it and maybe loose your job.

We didnt find anything fresh, but Bella tried to work off of and old scratch. I also took some video that will make you boys jealous or at least want to come hunt with me. :)

Bella's first coon. She did it all by herself. Never seen one before nor has she ever treed anything before. She is a treeing machine. :) She will make a fine hound :)

Tessa,
My wife just watched that video with me. She said that she can sure tell that you are enjoying your dog! One step at a time, what's next? Lion season is upon us.

Benny,

I adore her she is a born trail hound and natural tree hound. She is smart and a real sweetheart.... Tell you what. If you ever get a cross out of that line or one like it I want more pups. I think I found my new foundation line for Big Horn Posse Big Game Hounds :)

A buddy of mine has the parents. He called me today wondering about dogs. I guess there's a guy close to him that wants one of those crosses also. I told him about the four pups out of that cross, so I think he plans to do it again some day.
